He’d be an excellent choice for a coach. A-10 ties as an Xavier assistant, can recruit and coach. Really a guy we should take a serious look at. Also, he doesn’t have a huge contract either, 300-400K a year.

i think i read he is making 250 thousand this year.

one thing that concerns me is that his team was 7-9 in conference but got in the tournament by winning the conference tournament. i dont know what to think about that.

They’ve had quite a few injuries to deal with this year including one to 3rd leading scorer Steven Coleman.

Ohio might be playing Groce’s services out of our price range.

His team is playing incredible basketball right now. Their players are very disciplined: bigs staying on the ground with their hands up, forwards smart enough to try to strip the ball when they take a charge. Georgetown went on a little run and Groce called a timeout to halt the run (so infuriating when Lutz wouldnt do that).

And they run a good inbounds play out of the timeout to get a good bucket. :o

Ohio’s PG has made some very impressive passes. Let’s hire John Groce and have him bring the PG with him.

I’m not saying not to hire him, but if we hire a coach with a losing conference record in the MAC to replace a coach with a winning record in the A10, we MAY catch some shit about it.

Good point, for many years we were doing the opposite… finishing well in the conference standings and getting knocked out of the tournaments early… I think another one of the main things that did Lutz in.

Getting into the tourney and losing 1st or 2nd round is NOT anything that “did Lutz in”. I can guarantee you that.

Bobby’s contract was not too much better, but a little better than Groce.
