Winthrop has to play in to the NCAA Tourney via winning the conference. We could earn an At-Large (not saying we’re going to, but there is a big difference because of the conference).[/quote]I’d say right now that Winthrop has a better chance of winning the crappy Big South than we do of getting an at large in a tough league. JT will have every opportunity to start at the 4 for us. As previously noted, he’d have to beat out 2 freshmen (that I have high hopes for, but are still freshmen, regardless). JT has already shown he can get it done in the ACC when healthy.
He does need to sit a year does he not? We have no idea what PT will look like after the three new guys get on the floor and we bring in the 2013 class.

The only risk with him is he may not be eligible. This would actually be his 6th year of eligibility if he is allowed to play. It’s not a guarantee (unless that has changed recently) that he will be able to play for anyone.
What are the chances he is granted a release from the NCAA to play? Just saw Abrimitis (sp?) at Notre Dame was denied an additionaly year and it sounded like a similar circumstance to Thompson. Granted he was able to play two games this season where Thompson missed two full seasons.
the ND kid voluntarily set out his soph year, IIRC. I don’t think JTT will have any issues getting his final year as he sat out due to season ending injuries.
Part of the problem was he sat out a year (Sophomore) by his own volition whereas JTT lost two consecutive years to due circumstances entirely out of his control.
