WOW, I’m impressed. I knew Judy was the AD for the Charlotte 49ers.
According to this article, she appears to also be the AD at UNCC.

Silvio, the reality is that Judy is the AD at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Likewise, Dick Baddour is the AD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We can call 'em the Charlotte 49ers, Carolina Tar Heels, etc., but that doesn’t change the official/legal name of the institution. [/b][/quote]
Yeah, I know. But reading the story just made think about that whole name/identity issue again.
I for one am so friggin tired of the whole name issue. Call us whatever you want. I don’t care anymore. Call us UNC, UNCC, UNC-C, UNC Charlotte, UNC-Charlotte, UNC at Charlotte, Charlotte, Chuck, Bill, Tom, etc. I am just so tired of the whole thing. Obviously the University doesn’t care so from now on I don’t either.
Sincerely,

NUN, we have a lame-duck Chancellor. Nothing will change under his watch.
We do have a search committee for the new chancellor. I can get the names of those on that committee if you or anyone else want to email them your well thought out ideas on what you want in a new chancellor.

My view may be different than others because I grew up in Boston where UNC-Charlotte is a well recognized and respected name because we heard it everytime Cornbread was introduced at the Garden.

we are moving backwards in conference affiliation.
every athletic team has slipped backwards the last decade. except womens hoops.
there is not enough leadership to start 1AA football in one of the richest cities in the country.
at least we are awesome at Title 9.
yep, we have a great AD.
Amen Metro! We need more voices like yours! Wooo Hoooo Title IX we rock!

College sports finances targeted
NCAA to create task force to study growing financial demands on athletic departments.

The NCAA will announce today the creation of a task force of school presidents to study financial issues in college sports, said Wally Renfro, senior adviser to NCAA president Myles Brand.
Brand said fewer than 12 college athletic departments are truly self-sustaining, although that has been the NCAA’s officially stated goal for all Division I athletic programs since the late 1970s.
Indiana University’s athletic department has lost more than $5million in the past three years, according to reports required by the federal Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act.
“Congratulations to the few, but it is unrealistic to pressure the vast majority of athletics departments to become self-sufficient,” Brand said.

Yeah, most teams in C-USA have football. Take football out of the equation and then compare budgets and profitability. We’ve made money over the past decade. According to the article below, thus we are one of only 12 institutions that make money on Athletics.College sports finances targeted

lefty,
you amaze me with your unwaivering rear kissing and ability to attempt to shift the focus of the conversation. now pay attention:it is not the job of an athletic program to be “profitable.” profitable programs aren’t good ones. we don’t root and cheer for profit. I will admit its admirable though. I have never suggested doing anything to go 5 million in the red like IU.
athletic programs are in place to garner school spirit and pride, not make money.
any program or company can make money if they run everthing on shoestrings. The real goal should be to break even and be high profile doing it.
Judy is a fantastic “person” but this athletic program is dead. She really made strides for women in college sports. But her novelty has worn off. The right person or architect- be it a female, male, black, martian, or what have you, could spin this program into something like UL, Memphis, Syracuse, UNLV, Miami, etc over time with the proper future plan.
this regime is all about the status quo. If Judy is in place another 10-20 years, we will be looking at the same middle of the road-mid major-nice little program. That is the comfortable route, and these folks don’t wanna role any dice to really achieve and succeed.
And that approach would suit me fine if we were a small private school that had really high academic standards (Davidson, Wofford, etc) , but we are a huge public school running a small private school type athletic program.
I think Melvin Watkins would be perfect.

Nice timing, too. We’re 12-2, 3-0 in conference and about to play a HUGE game wed night. Most people are getting ready for that game. You???

Yeah and you amaze me with your unwaivering bitch and moan tactic on this message board. You just dug up a thread from 11 days ago that was completely dead JUST TO POST YOUR SAME OLD TIRED RHETORIC. I check this message board about once a month now and stumbled across it due to an inference to me. Just because I don’t stay logged on 24/7 like yourself, the amount of time gone by was irrelevant to me.again, you are shifting topics. what does our current record have to do with the subject? or how old the thread is?
you keep rooting for profitability from Judy, and I will keep hoping for a big time athletic department that can break even if managed properly.
And no I am not excited about the game, can’t even watch it for gods sake.

ESPN2 picked it up a few weeks ago. TCU at home has been added to ESPN Classic. And I certainly don’t judge the athletic dept solely based on profitability. I was just pointing that out because I had recently ran across that article.

I keep waiting to hear why you blame Judy for no football when Woodward (her boss) has gone on record saying he will not pursue football.
