Judy Rose shoud resign

Has she brought in any donors other than Halton? Everything seems to be paid for by her. That doesn’t seem sustainable.
Couple of guys named McColl and Richardson. Their first names escape me though.
You might want to check this. M and R gave some, but the majority of the $$$ given (to name the field after them was from ā€œothersā€ who asked for the field to be named after them) similar to what Halton did for Judy with the fieldhouse.
Whether it came just from them, or them and others, a check was stroked for around 1.5 million. That’s really all I care about.
Sorry, just clarifying since you insinuated that M and R were suddenly big donators to our AD. They are not.
I guess it depends on your definition of ā€œbigā€. I’d consider anyone who can stroke a check for 25k+ a ā€œbigā€ donor. But if you have the breakdown of their donation between what they wrote and what others did I’d love to see it. Though I’m willing to wager it was significant check from both of them and would be well in the range of ā€œbigā€ as compared to what most give.

If you’ve ever read the media guide you see we have some people who give significant amounts to the school. Where we hurt is in the alumni giving for smaller donations.

Absolutely. I agree with all of this.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a Judy apologist by any stretch. I think she handled the hiring of Melvin poorly by looking outside the program. I think that cemented him leaving us as soon as he got an offer. She mishandled Bobby’s contract, it never should have been extended because in truth both her an Dubois wanted him gone before that final year was up. I think men’s basketball is where she has done little to help us over the years.

But that not being the only part of her job description I think she’s done a lot of good for us as well. Our facilities have been upgraded dramatically, our non-revenue generating sports have been terrific for a long time now and we dominated the A10 in pretty much every one. When football was a reality she made it happen, I would argue, close to flawlessly. And she has secured a number of big donors over the years. And regardless of how much each gave, the name McColl and Richardson, icons in this city, is on our field.

She done some things bad, others very well. And the fact that metro detests her with such vigor should give us all a clue the good outweighs the bad.

What reasonable person hires a guy who speaks at a third grade level?

What reasonable person hires a guy who speaks at a third grade level?
Major’s comfort level behind the mic has improved. I’d be more worried about his in-game abilities.

Also, great answer to the question.

Major speaks at a Third grade level? You must be a bigot.

I think he was just saying his public speaking was lacking in a major way when he first got here. He really had no clue about selling a program or being a public figure. Just going to the Major Live shows clearly showed that.

This one did…

We are going to play football in a FBS conference without playing a down. Game, set, match.

One questionable hiring and we get schmuck threads like this.

Well said. My biggest gripe with her has been the way she’s handled some contracts as well. On the flip side, I do think she’s done a lot of positive things for our athletic department as a whole. I never bought the argument that she hated football and didn’t want us to get it. I think she’s handled the transition to football very well.

I know some on here, flat out, hate her and seem to have some view that she sits at home and plots ways to destroy our entire athletic department. Yes, I am exaggerating some but I do find some of the anger towards her over the top.

But more importantly she didn’t recognize a star pitcher on a team bus roughly two decades ago. Clearly she should have been fired then.

That wasn’t Metro in the story… She didn’t recognize Bo Robinson who was leading the nation in Homers and RBI’s at the time… Just sayin

Yes a HUGE one and Bo Robinson is my favorite baseball player ever, well maybe tied with Scott Bankhead.

She didn’t recognize a Tarhole player and that’s what offended him?

I have never seen anything about the amount that was donated to name the field, but I know we were asking for $2.5 mill.

I had heard it was like 1.5 million but you’re right, they never said how much. And we had valued it at 2.5.

They’ll never get $5M for the stadium name now.
