Or…the conf switching ridiculousness

Speechless
Would been funny if she plugged new football program
Seems like she was referring to “helicopter” parents. I agree with her and she was speaking the truth. However, not really all that much she can do about it so why bring it up?
A Bcs vs non Bcs reply would of got my tip of the cap.
How about "Well, Charlie, I have my hands full running MY program. Haven’t given a ton of thought to how I would change college athletics in general. " ;D
Asked a stupid question and , surely enough, got a couple of stupid answers.
Think about it. That question is the same as “What do think is wrong with college athletics?” Any AD would be hard pressed to answer that and not come off as a whiner.
Actually, I think it’s a very good question… College athletics is a mess, why not ask the AD’s?
Could have responded about there difference between the have’ sand have nots, and how the no BCS/AQ schools are falling further behind by the day. There were lots of good responses, just not the one she decided to go with.
Considering our situation, how would your proposed answer not come off as whining?
This may have been a good question for PBS or NPR interview, but it certainly wasn’t one that could be answered with any degree of clarity in 15 seconds.
I already said her answer was stupid. Charlie Rose clearly caught her off guard. The Texas AD had a few seconds to think while Judy rambled and her answer, while more coherent, was just as ridiculous.
I’ve been on tv probably 20 times, every time the news person told me what they would ask. Pretty sure they knew Charlie’s questions. No presidential debate here.
On the positive side, a national news program did a segment and selected participants from three schools. From the Big 12 they took what I think is the biggest athletic program in the nation, one from the Big 10 (in many ways the best conference in the nation), and us. Most of the film they showed opening the segment was of the 49ers – our first football game with the flag unfurling on the field, men’s and women’s basketball. Sign me up for ten more appearances just like this.
I guess that I’d have to watch it to comment. I think I’ll just skip it.

Do you really think if she had time to think about it, she would have given the answer she did?
EDIT: Thanks to the link above, I just watched this again. Her answer was fine. What I took was that she thinks personal development of young people is more effective
with parental involvement. Hard to dispute that.
:))
I don’t guess they asked her why she let the women’s volleyball team play at 7 while forcing the men’s basketball team to play at 4, did they?

it seemed to me that the question did catch her off guard. its dangerous to mind-read, but i can imagine that she was thinking abt so many of these kids coming in with people whispering sweet BS in their ears. but then we don’t really know just WHATall the people in the AD have to put up with. i’m guessing that judy was caught a little off guard, but came out with a very honest and significant answer.

Judy was caught off guard on the last question but did great otherwise. Funny how none of the Judy haters mentioned the rest of the interview. She represented well and per a prior comment we should take any pr opportunities like this.

As in robot? You mean that you know what he is going to post before he even types it? Kind of a one track…oh wait, this is awkward. :))
Just got home from Picasso’s. Went to try to watch the game, but they couldn’t get the feed like they thought. To my surprise, Judy walked in and sat at a table with some boosters/alum. Heard her complaining about how she didn’t get any of the questions that she was told would be asked. She was also disappointed that Charlie Rose didn’t lead the interview. When it was clear that the game wouldn’t be shown, she urged the boosters/alum to pay their tab and invited them back to her office to listen to the game on the radio.
