I know money is a factor, Iām not naive. But, Iād like someone to explain to me how Coastal can have a top ten baseball program and we cant make a dent. Or if itās just the two revenue producers, why are we about the worst program in the freaking nation? It baffles me
I agree on the fundraising. Like really? Clemson is having no problem raising funds. You could be on autopilot and just do what was done before. I hope Iām wrong, but it feels meh.
They have 2 really big donors for that
Need to give him a chance, but background seems very similar to Hillās where we went for a āAdministratorā, would like to see more of a direct Sport background (ie Football) sounds like he did play some hoops or we need to hire someone that has had success hiring some coaches.
I understand that āAdministratorsā like to hire āAdministratorsā, just like in business, my other impression of how we operate is the Executive Recruiting companies we hire and pay never do us in favors by actually recruiting/stealing someone who is doing well with another program for these AD positions or Coaches.
My other view is our Chancellor is really struggling with how to handle the Athletic Department and Football/Basketball programs.
I couldnāt care less where someone went to college and that includes Chapel Hill, but it is ironic that the two other Niner ADs who did as well were both fired.
Per Cameron Williams of The Charlotte Post.
So far, Iām seeing mixed feelings from @Charlotte49ers fans about the next AD having his undergrad degree from Chapel Hill.
Same. I donāt care where their degree is from. Just make us better. Iām down on this because it doesnāt feel all that different than what we had. It is all about money now and we have not done well at that.
Yes but he has done well at raising money
He did have a stint at Ga State and SMU working in finance and business and eventually CFO so he has more experience on the business side of athletics. I donāt think Mike had worked in those areas. He has a broader range of experience than Mike had and I donāt think Mike had worked up to the #2 position at Florida like White had at Clemson. Iām going to try and stay positive about the hire until he gives me reasons not to.
Northwestern too
Public records show White earned $360,000 annually at Clemson during the 2025-26 fiscal year. Given that Charlotte paid Hill a $420,000 base salary on his most recent deal before his unexpected dismissal this past fall, White is likely in line for a bump in pay as he steps into the new role.
Iād like to get a Godās honest answer from him as to WHY he wants to be AD here.
AD job, pay raise, big, wealthy market, top g5 conference, tons of potential
Because if you somehow turn us around you can waltz into any AD job you want in the nation
Would appear to have an affinity for the ābig cityā too. Previous work stops in Chicago and Dallas, as well as Atlanta for work and grad school.
Top G5 conference.in a big city with tons of potential. If successful you can move to P4
Iāve been thinking about this today and Iāve come to the conclusion that Iām not going to anoint this guy as anything good or bad. After being burned so many times, I think my attitude towards any hire we make going forward is: prove it.
White was a finalist for the Memphis AD opening in 2024 that eventually resulted in the hiring of Ed Scott from UVA.
One of the things I like about this hire is his age and what I am assuming is a desire to be successful long term in his career.
This is a step up in scope and responsibility and we offer a platform that if he is here 4-7 years and delivers success, he will get scooped up buy a P4 school and frankly this is EXACTLY what I want to see happen. Same for our coaches.
I want to see success that is measurable and improves our reputation, our balance sheet and our w/l records.
