Happened to catch FNZ at around 12:50 pm today with Kilgo as a guest host. Being very opinionated , he can be quite comical and entertaining. Today I realize even more how much I dislike the guy with his biased ramblings regarding ACC , Carolina, and Davidson. It's hard to fathom and realize that I too once listened intently in the 70's to his radio play by play of our basketball . At the time, with our national success, he came across as a supporting, caring ambassador of our program. As our program hit the skids in the early 80's he jumped ship and as far as I can remember hasn't had many kind words for us to this day.
Well today took the cake. He announced his top ten NC basketball schools for next year. In no certain order he declared UNC, Duke, NC State, and of course Davidson as his top 4 with ECU and Wake Forest next. Bringing up the rear was Elon, Western Carolina, UNCW, and last ASU. Then he had the nerve to mention us as being ommitted. Well I don't know about the rest of you but if we ever needed motivation we've got it now. F*** Kilgo and his stupidity for his lack of respect and knowledge of our program. We were in a tough conference with very little depth (especially down low) and had very tough shooting nights. Still we were in almost every game to the last. I'm very optimistic with the recruits and returning players so Kilgo, not only are you an idiot but I'm filing your little rant today in my memory and you will eat your words.I love this. We beat ECU @ ECU and didn’t really lose anyone from last years squad except JB. What a joke.
May I make a humble suggestion?
Take everything you hear on WFNZ, and I mean EVERYTHING; and file it under IDGAF.
They treated us like shit when we were in CUSA the first time, they treated us like shit when we were on their “network”, and they will treat us like shit till the day they close their doors. They didn’t respect us when we were being broadcast on their station, they sure as hell aren’t going to say nice things about us now that we are on their first competitor in this market and their market shares are dropping.
Who pissed off kilgo and others at fnz? Their hatred for us appears to be pathological.

I caught some of his show last week where he was ripping us for moving to CUSA. I got a good chuckle out of it.

I think the fact that we beat the Meowmix out of his beloved lolcats on a regular basis has something to do with his bitterness.
I would discourage anyone from listening to WFNZ much. I used to really enjoy Morning Sports Page with Gary Williams (now on the morning drive Golf Channel show). Once Gary left I quit listening to the network for the most part though I occsionally flip over, get mad, and change the station. At least Pacman is gone though I find Marc James to be too self absorbed. I do enjoy hearing ChiSox’s dad when he’s on though.

You would think that after all the sucking up to Chapel Hill he has done, that they would let him do their radio broadcasts or something. Instead he has to work at Davidson.

You’d think, but the guy has an “edge” to him (and always has) that the crapple hole folks probably didn’t want associated directly with their (formerly) squeaky-clean image that’s sooo unlike Mr. Sunshine, Woody Durham.

Back in the 80s he did their coach’s TV shows.
My recollection is that Kilgo was none too happy with Mike Pratt’s dismissal by the Niners in 1982 . Of course, trading Pratt for “He who shall remain nameless” is one of the dumbest moves ever made by UNCC.
Anyway, the Niner-hating club that includes Kilgo and Sorensen does leave something to be desired, especially when the former is a Charlotte College grad who played hoops for the CC Owls and then was the “Voice of the 49ers” during our basketball heydays of the 1970s!
