Maybe best 1st half we’ve played. Our shots were falling and they were the artic glaciers.
We gave up a ton of open looks that they just flat out missed. And layups that they blew right by our big guys. That was not pretty. Looked like guys were just standing around on some plays. The had to of had 30 offensive rebounds.
Dumb turnovers as usual.
#55 galloway threw a nasty one down. I liked after one of their dunks Henry answered back. Galloway was 7-29, ouch!
Clark and Henry played well tonight and Nickerson hit his free throws.
Braswell has been quiet. Seems he is getting even softer on defense as well. There is no help after they get by our guards and then our guys blame eachother after they get an easy layup. Braswell should have way more blocks for a guy his size.
Guys played hard though. Big must win tonight and we handled business.
Good crowd especially the student turnout and it was a pretty entertaining game. I’m glad LaSalle was cold from behind the arch otherwise we might have loss. Unless we play them in the A-10 tournament this is the last time we play LaSalle and good riddance!
Liked the way the team responded when La Salle made their runs. Seems we are still, in most cases, a 6-8 minute stretch and about 5 bonehead/inexperienced plays away from being a very good team. Gotta correct those. E. Vic was more than solid, nice to see. Surprisingly large student turnout by this season’s standards, was a welcome sight. Now need to work on getting butts out of seats and making more noise.
Anyone notice the " I’d rather be hoggin’" frat boys in 104 on the video feed? Was standing right beside them. Please Greeks, you have a separate section for a reason.
On the Greek section subject, they were pleasantly involved tonight.
Defense overall was solid and team stayed together nicely to tough out the win. On to Rhody!
What did the hogging shirts means? Something with their frat. For people like me that had no idea, they just looked dumb and idiots for not wearing something with niners on it if they were gonna match.
Not sure I’ve witnessed a worst shooting night like 7-29 from Galloway. It was like a Kobe Bryant off night. Not like their team or fans have to investigate too hard why they lost. Not surprised he had 0 assists. Lol.
Prob a good thing they weren’t playing at home because I could only imagine what our fans would be yelling out one of our players if they shot that bad. “NOOOOOOOOOOO”
Good start. We dictated the game and forced La Salle to play our style of basketball: ugly and brutal. Rhode Island has been playing better basketball, but still a game we need to grab in order to enjoy postseason play. Happy to match last year’s win total in half the amount of games. Go Niners!
So does anyone have a clue why Henry was late out of the locker room after the half? He had his jersey pulled over his arm and it looked like a cast from my seat, so I was having a slight heart problem for a few seconds there.
Well the good - We won, shot pretty well, solid games from Evic and Clark.
And the bad - Dear god we run a shitty fast break. Rebounding was a problem. We gave some very solid looks beyond the arc, however some of the shots they got open were deep 3s so I am ok with some of the open looks they got. Missed layups again, sometimes it feels like we are playing for the contact not for the basket, so when the layup goes up and no call is made we looks stupid. We need to make the layup and take the calls as they come. Bras - wow, he has seriously started regressing. I have no idea what is going on there.
Good win against a team most people thought was better than us. Our best win of the year according to KenPom’s ratings.
Interesting little stretch of the schedule coming up, a lot of winnable games before we start playing the top tier of the league. Things could be pretty exciting it we can string together, say, 5-1 or 4-2 over the next 6 before that brutal stretch starts.
nickerson played his best defensive and rebounding game so far as a niner. clark and clayton played great. henry was good except for the turnovers. braswell is a disgrasce. lazy, soft, no heart. does he care? we are better without him out there. he should be embarrassed.
