Disappointed we couldn’t pull this out in OT, but i’m really impressed with this team. No Sullivan and with Vanhook going down and we still take LA Tech to OT, ill take it.
Where would we be without big Jo this season? Jon Davis keeps on getting better and better. 24 points and 5 assists.
Super fun game to watch and really proud of this team right now.

I could not watch the game. What happened to Vanhook?
Ever since the 9 day layoff this is a totally different team. Even though we lost this was the most “interested” I have been watching a game in a long time. Showed a lot of fight tonight against a good team. At the very least, we have 2 freshman guards with loads of potential. And after this year they will have a lot of experience. Also, playing good against a good team provides the opportunity to coach some of the finer points of the game. As bad as we are record/rpi-wise, this team obviously hasn’t thrown in the towel, like we have seen so many niner teams do in the last 10 years.

Agreed. This team is just different to years past in every way. I love the way we move with and without the ball. Really impressed with Price thus far as well.

I agree. For the past five years we’ve been good early only to decline. Despite the losses, I don’t think it’s wrong to say we’ve improved every game since Davidson. We’re going to end up with about seven conference wins.

plus georgetown is definitely not weaker than those teams.

I am not going to get into if the teams are weaker or stronger because regardless of the other team our team has gotten better - better with shooting, better with running the offense and better on defense. They pass the eye test of a team that has improved - regardless of the record. The team is going to keep improving. Id like to see the FT crap get turned around - at least we know they practice them now.
not to excuse the poor free throw shooting, because that is part of the game but if we were a solid free throw shooting team, how many more wins would be have? we would at least had won against lt and georgetown. we are improving and the stuff we struggle with, i am confident that price will fix. now let’s go get some bigs for next season.
There is no doubt that the team has improved. But you can’t say the defense has improved.
Every team they have played since the break has shot over 50 percent. Even a bad Southern
Miss team did. The free throw shooting has been very poor. Its the same problems that
haunted last years team. Offensive execution has been very good and its getting better
every game.

I actually think the D has improved even if it doesnt show in the numbers. The rotation has gotten better and the guys are playing harder on D than they did. It just doesn’t come through in the stats. FT - not sure what else can be said about it and I am sure it pisses Mark off. The effort on D is way ahead of where it was earlier - some of the guys on this team have a low ceiling but if they are putting forth max effort that is all I can ask and better than some of our more recent teams.
While I would love our FT shooting to improve, just look around college basketball and you’ll see poor free throw shooting is endemic throughout the game. LT was just as bad as we were tonight, so IMO that is not where we lost the game.
Realtime RPI and RPI Predictor expected us to get blown out the past 2 games. Also, our kenpom ranking has gone up. The team is definitely playing better.
It is frustrating to lose due to FT shooting, but that is something that usually takes some time. You could also blame this on our defense, which is awful; but we have improved, and that’s what I’m looking for this year.
We play hard and coaching decisions seem to actually make a difference.
Terrible free throw shooting, and Charlotte 49er have become synonymous unfortunately. I thought I heard during the game that Scott is leading the team at 75% or something like that. Did I hear that right? If so that’s down right embarrassing.
