Terrible free throw shooting, and Charlotte 49er have become synonymous unfortunately. I thought I heard during the game that Scott is leading the team at 75% or something like that. Did I hear that right? If so thatās down right embarrassing.
Yes, heās leading the team and he was in the 70ās. That was good enough for 8th best in the conferenceā¦so it is safe to say that free throw shooting is pretty terrible all around. Itās not just a Charlotte problem.
This is true, but we are currently in the bottom 33% nationally (or worse) I would guess. We were shooting 63% as a team before the LT game.
We are #306 in the country - http://www.ncaa.com/stats/basketball-men/d1/2015/team/150/p7
There is no doubt that the team has improved. But you canāt say the defense has improved.
Every team they have played since the break has shot over 50 percent. Even a bad Southern
Miss team did. The free throw shooting has been very poor. Its the same problems that
haunted last years team. Offensive execution has been very good and its getting better
every game.
We are not going to match up well size-wise to other teams this year, and that opens some defensive holes. There is little we can do about it other than trying to score enough to cover it up. As long as we rotate well, and play help defense effectively, that is probably more important right now than whether we can stop the other teamās power forward one-on-one.
Poor free throw shooting by a team made up mostly of guards is really bad.

Does the menās basketball team charter flights to all away games? Iām assuming the non-revenue teams fly commercial.

I actually think the D has improved even if it doesnt show in the numbers. The rotation has gotten better and the guys are playing harder on D than they did. It just doesnāt come through in the stats. FT - not sure what else can be said about it and I am sure it pisses Mark off. The effort on D is way ahead of where it was earlier - some of the guys on this team have a low ceiling but if they are putting forth max effort that is all I can ask and better than some of our more recent teams.
I agree the effort is better than earlier in the year. But you got take in to context that lately they had a change to win games.
Its hard to give max effort on defense when your down by 30 points.
Unfortunately, your link is for the 2014-15 season.
We are actually 322nd this season.
If we shot 72% as a team, that is 30 more points (2 points a game).
Pretty happy with the progress. If it continues and Price can recruit we are onto something and it wonāt be long until we are back to the NCAAs.
If Price can bring in some better talent, continue to run this system, and play the way weāve been playing we could be scary good in future years.

Ha! At least all the schools in NC are close to a major airport.

No direct flights but I see total trip times of less than 6 hours on flighta to Shreveport from clt.
Monroe, LA 35 minutes from Ruston has commercial flights from Delta, American, and United.
Monroe is the home of Delta Airlines.
They flew to Hattiesburg on Wed for the S Miss Thursday game, then on to Ruston for La Tech and then back Sat night. Swierad said they had to get to the Charter flight in postgame. The Thursday-Sat schedule, location of back to backs and a Charter flight makes a lot of sense.
clt says we need a 650
