Lamont Mack (6'7, 210 lb SF) - 2007

He is playing at Angelina College (juco) in Tartan, MN.

Has an offer from Loyola-Chicago. Charlotte and Illinois St. are also mentioned.

If he has PF skills then he could be good for us, if not…another SF?

“If he has PF skills then he could be good for us, if not…another SF?”

I thought the exact same thing.

An article went on rivals.com tonight about him…

A little from the article…

Last season, Mack averaged 9.2 points and 3.9 rebounds - which were solid numbers for a freshman. But in truth, the numbers were a little deceiving. “His game has improved tremendously from when he was a freshman,” Neighbors (his coach) said. “He only played 17 games last year because of a broken foot, and he was slowed a little because he was still recovering. But the last five-to-six games he was averaging about 16-to-17 points a game.”

Back in the fold because the kid can be an immediate impact player at the 3. We will lose DA’s scoring and Jamison’s defense. Wilderness and Whitehurst are more suited for the 4 and Gaby is a 4 or 5. Dewhurst will need some time to develop.

Isn’t Sean Phaler going to be around next year? He has playing experience.

Wilderness as a 4 and Gaby as a 5 actually sounds a bit undersized and out of position. I would actually prefer getting an experienced JUCO C/PF to balance Phil’s raw talent rather than having 2 inexperienced 5s with Phil/Gaby. I think it looks better to shift Gaby down to a 4 and Wilderness down to a 3: Phil/JUCO at the 5, Gaby/Booker at the 4 and Phaler/Wilderness/Dewhurst at the 3. The SF position actually seems pretty solid like that, but maybe that’s just me.

I went to jucojunction.com and got rerouted to charlotte49ers.com

From the same link on Whitehurst:

15.6 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game

:lmao: :lmao:

I know we were high on Mack a few months ago.

Ideally: PG, 2/3 who can score and a big guy.

Mack is #15 I believe. He put up 23 and 12 in the last game. He’s 6’7", 220.

looks like to have some really off days. in general looks like he is a turn over machine. gets anywhere from 3 to about 9 rebounds a game. usually makes a high percentage his shots.

Looks like there should be some different numbers below that mugshot.

I know its JUCO, but put a little effort into your roster pics. Looks like they took the pic in the hallway before tipoff.

consider most juco teams don’t even update their page often i think the fact that they actually pictures is amazing

Still don’t think JUCO is the route to go. I know the guy may be able to score but McClain should be #1 on the radar. This guy should just end up being filler if we can’t land who we need. No offense to the guy, but with many of the young guys we brought in this year and are bringing in next year, I think another possible 4 year player is in the better interest of the team over a 2 year guy who may be able to score at this level.

I’m not very knowledgable about recruiting, but I too would say we should not go the JUCO route. After seeing Carlos Williams, the #1 JUCO PG, I don’t trust what anyone says about anyone from JUCO and think it is too much of a gamble to get one of them. Not to mention, they already have lost eligibility time and therefore have less time to get used to our system.

You think that’s bad:

I think it may be his driver’s license photo.

Do you want to win some games next year? We’re losing 3 starters and half our offense. If we can land McClain, I’m sure that would be #1 priority but we need immediate help. One JUCO, 4 freshman.

i honestly think mcclain will go to uconn. we aren't even on mcclain's rival page and that was updated recently. so seeing that i don't think we even remotely have a chance in hell with him.
