Wouldn't call a guy earning a NBA Paycheck a bust, I'll admit he wasn't exactly what he was billed at, but not many are.
Nice spin but Randolph has been one of the biggest busts in recent history, NBA or not.

I still think had he gone to State and played in Herb’s system, he would have turned out to be a pretty good college player. He chose to be another in a long line of people drooling to sit the bench at Duke instead of going somewhere where he could get lots of game experience right away and improve himself.

Good for him that he’s in the NBA but as far as college goes he was a bust. Just pointing out that any team no matter what caliber, can have busts. If Iti somehow wound up on an NBA roster in the future, that wouldn’t mean he wasn’t a bust here.
i read syracuse is the school to beat and that at one time(not sure if he still is) committed to louisville.
He might be waiting to see what Flynn does and when he leaves Syracuse.
Interesting. List now includes the following, with offers from Charlotte, VT, UC:

“He is going to be a high major point guard and if he waits till the spring, he will be very highly recruited.”
Sounds like his Coach is hedging his bets for him.
A profile on Mo Mo Jones with some links to Zag’s blog mentioning Jones.
Mo Mo Jones comes to Asheville. Oak Hill beat Veritas handedly at the Asheville Civic Center. Jones, a rangy, smooth 6-foot guard, led all scorers with 21 points. I wish I’d known that they were playing so I could have made it to the game. I really hope that Lutz and Moxley can work some magic and land this guy. He definitely reminds me of Demon Brown from his highlight video on Rivals. We need somebody to learn behind Harris that first year and then become a strong leader on the floor with great court vision for the next three.

The more I read things like this the more I think this guy IS the missing puzzle piece. Come on down, Mo Mo. I think he, along with Braswell and Sherill, could take us from A-10 contenders to the A-10 target for a few years. I may be getting a little over eager, but I so want to take Xavier’s place as the conference team to beat from year to year.
His Scout.com profile does not even list Charlotte…

Any word on whether or not he is planning on making a desision during the fall signing period or not? I’m not privy to his visit dates, so I was not even sure if he had been to Charlotte or his other schools of interest yet or not.
10:43 a.m. “Not 2day 4 sure.” Oak Hill’s Steve Smith on the signing status of Lamont Jones and Tiny Gallon. (DT)
9:28 a.m. We could be onto something here. Source tells us that Keith Gallon and Lamont Jones both are thinking commitment without the subsequent signing. This could happen a lot the next few days as the players look to regain the upper hand. The concern is coaches, for whatever reason, not being on campus and the kids being stuck with the school. The reality is programs have loosened up in the past when coaches leave. Technically the kids are bound to the school but we’re seeing most of them gain their releases. (DT)
I’d think our chances could be better the longer he waits. Big dogs will fill out there rosters, and not have the room come spring, or atleast there will not be as many suitors.
or he could blow up into a star and have even more schools looking at him. I’d rather find out now so if he doesn’t work out, we can persue someone else rather than waiting and then having to pick up a JUCO.

Sigh… a JUCO isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it isn’t like we would have a roster with 5, 6 or 7 of them.

not always a bad thing, but as far as PG’s go, I’d rather avoid JUCO. I know Colson was a juco point guard, but many of them don’t pan out because defense is not stressed as much in JUCO and its easier to look like a star.

Dijuan was a JUCO too. Just because Carlos Williams didn’t work out, doesn’t mean we should shy away. I’d rather grab a JUCO or transfer rather than a late signee who is a dark horse recruit (not talking about Momo here). What I’m saying, if we don’t get Momo, I’d rather have a JUCO come in and then target a guy in 2010 or a guy like Rankin in 2011.

Sometimes four-year guys don’t work out. Anybody remember Jerell Lewis?
We’ve had more success with the D1 Transfer to JUCO (1 yr) to Charlotte route.
Examples:
Cam Stephens (Purdue - JUCO - Charlotte)
Sean Colson (URI - JUCO - Charlotte)
Then we have Dijuan, who just played 1 year of JUCO ball.
We’ve had some successes with 2 year JUCO guys as well, but I think our ratio is a little better for guys that were originally at high major schools. Coleman is interesting because he went NAIA - JUCO - Charlotte
