I have seen that we have lost out on Grant and a few others the past several weeks. Are we leading on any recruits, or will we save for a JUCO at the end of the year?
We may not need to recruit anyone. Don’t we have a walk on or two that may recieve scholarship?
Regardless, I have high hopes that our players will be developing to the point that we don’t have to be looking for innediate help in the JC ranks.
I still think that we need another high caliber player. I think we could use any position except point guard.
i know we are still going after reco mccarter, who would be a huge get. there are still plenty of good guys to go after. i dont think we will settle for a juco and i dont think either parks or lewis will be offered a scholarship.
Niner target SF Justin Coleman (Rivals #45) is still available, as is Fayetteville Trinity Christian PF Domantre Harris (Rivals #56). We’ve offered the former, but apparently not the latter. Harris is being recruited by the likes of Wake, South Carolina, Florida, Maryland, Winthrop, UNCW, and VCU, but haven’t seen Charlotte associated with his name. Per Scout, Xavier had also offered Harris, but Muskies backed off after getting commits from Jordan Latham and Griffin McKenzie.
Winning helps recruiting. We will be winning soon, we will land a top recruit shortly after that.

It’s just the truth. Sometimes the truth doesn’t hurt.
so looking ahead to next year, we will lose:
Dijuan, Ian, Coleman, and Bowden as far as scholarships go
and so far we have:
Jarvis Davis comitted, Briscoe transferring in, …and is that it?
Just wondering if we are close to signing anyone else

Thought I saw somewhere that he committed to Marquette but couldn’t read the full article on scout.com because I’m not a subscriber, do you know if there is any truth to that?
I hope we go after a center if there are any decent ones available for the upcoming year. Very rarely do centers come in and make an immediate impact so it would be ideal for them to get a year under their belt with Phil. We would be extremely deep at the 4 and 5 next year but I think we are going to need a C with some experience when Phil and Shamari leave. Braswell is a good player but he is way to soft at this point to play C.
Braswell isn’t soft. We are not a soft team. We play very physical basketball. I think it is crazy how many of our players are labeled “soft.”
We have a lot of success when games are called loosely for a reason. When we get games called tightly (see Dayton), we struggle. Teams aren’t getting and ones on us this season for a reason.
I guess it is just because we don’t dunk.

give me 13 soft guys who get 9.0 Rebs their first year
.
Anyone that says Braswell is soft hasn’t watched him play this year. He may not be a chiseled body with super athleticism, but he holds his ground on defense and plays to his strengths.
It’d be nice to see him throw down a monster dunk over a defender, but I don’t care how he scores as long as the ball goes in the basket. We’ll (hopefully) have KJ filling the roll of superb athlete much like Coley and Withers did.
He gets out of position a lot on defense, but that’s because he’s a frosh. Even superstars get beat on D and he does get caught trying to help spears. I think another year with Phil will help him out a lot. He definitely can play C in college, 6’8" isn’t unreasonable for even elite programs.
I suspect, given Lutz’ track record, we end up with a project for the last scholarship. If it is another Barnett/Sirin, I’m okay with that. If it is another Phaler, well…he was a great kid.
I dont know that Bras is soft, but he prob would be be better suited at the 4 than the 5. Not that he cant play the 5, but we’ve seen we have issues as a team when we go against a very big front line. That’s b/c our current 4/5 are undersized. I wouldnt mind getting a legit starting center so we could shift Bras to the 4. Especially after Spears graduates. Then again, i wouldnt mind getting the next Michael Jordan either. Easier said than done.
I definitely agree that he is more a 4 than a 5. We are at our best defensively with Jones and bras on the floor. But, I just can’t wrap my head around him being soft. He has a finesse offensive game, but he is not soft.
