Nice little find. Unfortunately it would have been better if it was the accepted bid for the stadium

The bid date is coming up soon. I hope we hear who gets it.

I personally hope itā€™s an architect that works with the consulting engineering firm I used to work for, Iā€™ve still got some ins over there and I could see whatā€™s going on.

Very nice find!

15k expandable to 40k? That sounds a heck of a lot better than 12k expandable to 20kā€¦ :x:

On this Youngling, an eye I shall keep. I sense great things in the Force for him.

Wasnā€™t there a report recently that they are likely to build it in the intramural fields in front of duke? I canā€™t see a 40k capacity stadium going there

BoA Stadium will fit in the oval and yes, Judy said it will be built there. 3D structures are often hard to envision fitting into a 2D landscape.

This was probably mentioned when it was on the siteā€¦ but just in case it wasnā€™t

Thatā€™s googles cache of what was on the uncc facilities website. Itā€™s removed now.

Its still up on the system site. Dang I wish I owned a design firm!

Anyone besides me notice $45 M is the budget but a football center wasnā€™t listed with the other stuff?

Things that make you go Hummmmmm?

I donā€™t understand why we are putting a limit on expandability. Would it be possible after reaching 40K to expand further or would it be structurally unfeasible?

EDIT: Pretty much answered in shoutbox.

Well, I think 40k would be plenty. By the time we have the need for more than 40k seats, it will be time to build a new stadium. BTW, Iā€™d be extremely surprised if we ever need more than 40k.

A 70,000 seat stadium will fit on that spot.

Why not? I'm almost afraid to ask what (or who) gave you that idea.

The Mine Shaft became too small for our basketball programā€¦ and I hope Halton will one day be too small for us too. Viewing a 40,000 seat stadium as all weā€™ll ever need is limiting our advancement.

Hah! Not even our own school system knows our name. ā€œUNC at Charlotteā€.

Well it may be getting too small for us now if a majority of our alums werenā€™t ā€œprotestingā€ by staying home.

One of the Oakland playerā€™s parents wanted to go with his kid on Saturday and asked if tickets were hard to get. Damn, it would have been nice to be able to say ā€œYeah, they are.ā€
let me tell you, that is a load of crap. LEED means $$$$ compared to conventional construction. Some greeny tree hugger will tell you it will pay for itself in 20 years, but wonā€™t be around in 20 years when it turns out to be false. The vast majority of LEED buildings have been funded by public money because it is a concept that is not feasible to private developers. Donā€™t waste money on crap. Build us a football stadium, not a freakin sideshow. Take your ā€œcarbon footprintā€ and shove it.
