Lukas Bergang - 2015 C signed LOI to Charlotte

7’1 C from Sweden signed with Charlotte on Tuesday according to --> http://www.thetimesnews.com/article/20150626/SPORTS/150629239

…“But Bergang has asthma and played about four minutes in the first quarter before Feggins told him not to take any chances with his health. Bergang didn’t play for the rest of the game.

Ummmmmmmmmm that’s incredibly concerning…

Izundu who?

::slight_smile:

Seriously though we needed some more size and here it is. Hopefully health stuff can be managed better once he is on the team.

Smallest highlights ever.

Overall, he is a big guy who looks to be extremely mobile. He needs to hit the weight room, but at least he’s not goofy. He handles his height well. A good coach can work with that.

wait. how can a 2016 sign an loi already? how many years does he have?

In SB it was mentioned he is for 2015.

Had asthma all my life. It can be controlled. Usually, I never get excited about a recruit, but this guy will be a good fit for us. Pretty smooth moves for a big guy and looks like soft hands.

Welcome to Charlotte Lukas!

well, we know these two things: we will have plenty of bodies and plenty of shooters. you can work with that.

Hopefully we will have an exciting, high scoring team this fall, but its a bit disconcerting to see that the Hornets were the worst 3 pt shooting team in the NBA this year and Lance Stephenson set an NBA record for 3 pt futility.

Understand completely. Price is enjoying a good run of popularity so let’s take him down a notch or two.

Welcome Mr. Bergang.

I look forward to seeing what he can do. He can add some muscle/weight, but hopefully not at the expense of his agility.

So this is welcome, a post player that can play next season (even if he needs some time to develop).

Our depth chart is starting to look a little more balanced (not sure about order here, almost everyone’s new!):
PG: Ogbueze, White
SG: Benkovic, Camidge, Davis, Scott
SF: Blakely?, Vanhook?
PF: Sullivan, Blakely?, Vanhook?
C: Griciunas, Bergang

Am I missing anyone? Not sure where to put Blakely and Vanhook. Blakely seems like a SF in a PF’s body, and Vanhook the opposite. Maybe some of the shooting guards, like Scott, spend more time at SF?

After hearing Price talk at the caravan I think a starting back court of Brax and Davis is likely (I think it was Davis).

I also think that Price will look to put as many shooters in the floor as possible.

It won’t surprise me if we go after a lot of international bigs with Price as the coach since he said he wants players that can shoot the ball.

Right now, it looks like our 4 bigs (Sully, Benas, Bergang, and Blakley all have shooting ability.

I think that is a a correct notion. I asked him what the #1 thing he was looking for in a recruit. He said “Skill wise, they have to be able to shoot and if you can’t shoot you probably aren’t going to see the floor much with me”. Maybe not those words exactly though - I had had a few, but thats how I recall it.
