Yeah, EJ. It’s not the coach’s fault. The coach does nothing. The players do it all. In fact, why do we even have a coach? The school could save a lot of money if they just let the guys go out there and play. It’s all about the players on the court, after all.

Put Coach K on the sideline and I guarantee we’d have beaten them handily. Guarantee. Put Pitino, Letaio, Soderberg, heck I’d take money on Bill Herion. This is inexcusable.
It seems we can’t rebound from a big loss, ever. I blame this on the coaching staff.
When I was playing organized ball if you screwed up you payed for it in practice. If the screw up was bad enough the whole team paid for it in practice. By screwed up I mean bad rebounding, turnovers, piss poor execution, crappy defense… All things our Niners are guilty of.
There isn’t enough of this any more with these spoiled brats. If I was the coach they would all be running suicides, tonight at the hotel.
I’m over being pissed about this game, I am just dissapointed in another good season being blown away by poor execution. 
I’m bothered because I honestly believe we are better than Memphis at 3 of 5 positions, but damn if we showed it.
I’m not sure what has happened, but it looks like 0-4 in March and pissing away what was setup to be a banner season.

Do you really think we have that much talent? We always get the bottom of the barrel when it comes to recruits and even when we sniff the top (Iti) it doesn’t pan out. Withers has developed nicely and Basden is a tremendous all-round player but our backcourt is subpar and good backcourts win championships in the end.
Lutz has done a great job with what he has to work with, which is hell of a lot less than any other team in the current top 25!
I’m not giving up on these guys b/c I’ve seen this happen to other teams in the past who have regrouped for the dance and made a run. Actually I’m glad to see you guys don’t have high aspirations b/c I’m gonna rub this in each and everyone’s face when we’re in the sweet 16…
EJ you can rub it in all the way. IF we make the Sweet 16, I’ll shoot a crow, spice him up, deep fry him and eat that sucker with some hot sauce and colt 45.

Yes, I do think we have that much talent. A preseason Wooden candidate, the conference’s best all-around player and 2-time defensive player of the year, a Juco all-american transfer, the fastest point guard in the country, a really tall guy, and a guy that can shoot three pointers from other time zones. Plenty of talent. No execution.
And I think Lutz has done just well, recruiting wise. Rodney White, Iti, Withers, Grier–all those guys were highly touted recruits. As was J. Zimmerman, but I can’t remember if Lutz or Watkins recruited him. Course I’m not even sure if you’ve even heard of JZ, because you seem to be a lukewarm bandwagon Niners fan who just jumped on in Dec. of 04 and blindly rah-rahs the Niners when it is obvious there are serious problems with the team.
Since this seems to be a recurring pattern, I guess our players are always the problem. Wake up and smell the coffee. I have nothing against Bobby and staff but me thinks we have plateaued as a program under Mr Lutz. Lutz will never get fired (nor should he), but part of me does want to take a risk and see what someone else could do with this program.

Ditto.We ARE routinely out recruited by Memphis, UL and Cincy. We are usually level with Marquette. If you think otherwise then you just haven’t followed recruiting. Iti was our highest recruit but only by one recruiting service. Some didn’t even have him ranked as top 10 among centers. The other guys were (Withers, Basden) were in the 50 to 100 range. Memphis and UL land a top 20 guy every year.
