Marching Band
Whether they ever march or not, if our Pep Band is going to play at home football games they need to double in size and try some new songs. If they don’t double it will be hard to hear them.
I’d rather our pep band stay at home and bring in a HS band. Pep band isn’t inspiring, to say the least.

But are the HS bands going to play during the game like a regular college marching band does, or will they come out just for halftime?

But are the HS bands going to play during the game like a regular college marching band does, or will they come out just for halftime?
I’d imagine they would be there for the entirety.

We need ATLEAST our own pep band playing in the stands.

Showing up just for halftime would suck. No other way to put it.

If a HS band is scheduled for given day, it better include: pregame, anthem, in game, halftime and maybe a brief post game.

If they show up only for halftime, I’d rather have no band…at all.
I understand the reasoning (cost) behind not having a marching band on day one, and I’m fine with it. I actually like the idea of local HS bands playing at halftime. Parents and friends will show up to watch these kids and we may make some new fans.

I spoke to a co-worker earlier this week whose son played in one of the rec league scrimmages at halftime during basketball season…they loved it and said the kids/parents were super excited about being there and keep an eye on Charlotte basketball now.

If we want to build a fanbase, moves like this help that happen.

Put a pep band in the stands and look at forming a marching band in a few years.
This just makes so much sense.

It sounds like some donors are stepping up behind the scenes. I wish they would make this public so others could help the cause.

STEALTH!

Start up costs - $750k for first year, dont have the $$$
Ownership (expenses) are all over the board at different schools - athletics, music, student affairs, etc
Ground swell about marching band
Music department relishes marching band
Money being raised privately - try something and see if ball can get rolling
Contributions are welcome
Might not be a marching band
We don’t do anything half way
What we put out in 2013 won’t be what we have in 2015

IMO what I gathered is in 2015 we will have a marching band.

Sounds like there is a good chance we will at least have a pep band in August.

like our radio signal, it goes the full way, just it’s range is very short.

Not a great time to have an exploratory meeting if they want people to show up. I would imiagine campus is a ghost town between graduation and the 1st summer session.

Regardless, a drumline is a good start.
