you’re sure the burger king employee didn’t tell you this?
I’ve heard that Johnson was our #1 priority at QB.
No surprise. He appears to be very mobile and with our OC being a spread offense kinda guy, it makes sense that we’d place a lot of emphasis on a guy like Johnson.

Maiden puts 70 on the board, and Johnson had a highlight reel of a night:

I’m expecting the next Cam Newton.

Maiden is the #3 seed in the West Regional of the 2A bracket. They will be playing at home this week against #6 East Rutherford. Maiden is a 14-point favorite according to the Massey Ratings.

Maiden won their second round playoff game, coming from behind to beat Polk County 41-27. Mr Johnson had a huge night:

Matt Johnson ran for 251 yards and four touchdowns while throwing for another and Will Jenkins added 216 yards that included a 90-yard TD, as Maiden scored 27 unanswered second-half points to run through Polk County 41-27 Friday night at Polk County.

Nice job Matt. Now comes a re-match with #1 ranked Lincolnton, who Maiden lost to the first game of the season 35-10. Those of you who live up that way should check this game out.

Wow! Epic playoff performance. Miller at QB, Johnson at Wildcat back, Barnwell at HB, P. Henry at receiver?

Maiden lost to Lincolnton in the quarterfinals last Friday, ending Johnson’s season. His stats from the game were not listed in the Hickory newspaper article.

Johnson was named Catawba Valley Athletic 2A Player of the Year on Monday.

Check Matt Johnson Maiden Highlights out on YouTube. Three good years of highlights on tape. He is more of a passing QB despite his running stats. Although there was a good cut back run where he steam-rolled someone that is worth finding.

Johnson named Catawba Valley Offensive Player of the Year by Hickory Daily Record. In the print edition but I cant find a link online.

Congrats Matt!

Happened to catch the tail-end of a TV report on Matt’s commitment to Charlotte yesterday. Not sure which channel. His mom commented that his friends/family/fans are happy he’s playing so close to home and that it would be easier for them to attend games here as opposed to somewhere out of state.

Any one else see this and remember which channel it was?

I saw it on WBTV channel 3 on their 11 pm show last night. Maybe they will have it on their website at some point.

BIG Difference between 2A and 4A Football. Ask Bandys about when they played Mooresville two years ago on their field.Halftime score MHS48Bandys 0.HALFTIME!!!When a qb is bigger than the linemen he plays against , well,he will probably look like a killer. Also I am curious to see the REAL SIZE of the recruits, combine style.By the way the qb for Mooresville that day was Pat OBrien, transfer into Charlotte.I know you guys from Bandys remember,he only played half the game and threw for about 250 by halftime.Bandys doesn’t play them anymore.

Sad but true. Thanks for the buzzkill

A kid playing in 2A can easily be better than 4A, and vice versa.

I’ve just sort of assumed from the get go that Matt Johnson will be our #1 option at QB, but this Patrick O’Brien kid sounds pretty legit. And I’m sure we will bring in a solid QB in the 2013 class as well. It will be fun to follow the QB competition and see who wins out come Aug 2013.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us bring in either a JUCO QB for 2013 or a FBS transfer to compete for the starting gig.

bandys 2010 season they went 3-8 and was one of their worst in recent history. Bandys/mooresville started playing in 2005 and Mooresville has won 2x. Previously it was just scrimmages and it wasn’t good for Mooresville, at all.

Give me Bandys 2A Duke Blue Devil all-acc RB Chris Douglas, or Shane Burton who played 8 seasons in the NFL any day.

dear God i sound like a townie.
