Mike Hill and the Future

Yes because no one has ever been deceptive or misleading in the history of the world.

If we did hire a Chapel hill fan, do you think they’d actually say that? My guess is that person would try to tank basketball but do just enough in other areas to placate the fan base and keep them off the scent of the trail.

It’s pretty incredulous that Ron is still here after all that’s happened, it feels pretty deliberate to me, when literally 90+% of people on social media want him fired.

I mean sure he could have been - but that isn’t the vibe. He lights up when he talks about Florida in a way he doesnt when he talks about Chapel Hill. His description and emotion of being there is very transactional.

I too am able to tamp down things I’m passionate about when it’s appropriate for the circumstance. I get it man, you don’t believe he is a CH fan. Doesn’t mean he isn’t. Doesn’t mean he didn’t intentionally hire a guy who looked good on paper but lacked the grit and tenacity to make a good head coach.

You’ll never believe otherwise and that’s fine, but it’s getting pretty difficult to look at the overall situation on not see malevolence on Hills part as it relates to our basketball program.

And dollars to MFin donuts, if and when we do release Sanchez, Mike Chapel Hill will hire another unproven assistant with a beta personality to coach our team again. It’s a brilliant playbook.

I am sure he is a fan to a degree.

I also don’t believe there is a boogeyman causing our problems with this. I think it is more likely he just fucked up.

How much is left on Sanchez’s contract (money and years)?

Ron Sanchez is under contract until March 31, 2026, and Charlotte would be responsible for his base salary ($450,000 annually) until the end of his contract. Ultimately, Charlotte would be on the hook for around $1,800,000 (THAT IS AST YEAR AMOUNT); due to the terms of the agreement Charlotte does not have to pay his supplemental salary for the years terminated ($225,000).

Any salary + benefits earned by Sanchez with any NCAA or professional team, or television/radio analyst/broadcaster, will minimize what he’s owed from Charlotte.

Critical stretch looms for Sanchez and Charlotte » Agent 49

The good news is at $450k that is in the ballpark of P5 assistants. So like 1.3 million owed and most if not all of that would be offset by a decent P5 gig.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. He’s here for one, maybe two more years.

We need an update on fundraising, just something. I think the 1 year mark of the plan dropping is a good time.

I don’t think that at all - in fact I don’t see how money is anywhere close to a roadblock here.

I don see Sanchez taking a paying gig when he can stay at home and collect $450k for a few years. Jesus Christ would tell Mike Hill he really F’d up extending Sanchez.

Curious but could a school not hire him for a lower amount knowing that he would still be getting the additional money or is there a clause to protect against that? My thoughts would be if I were to hire someone as an assistant I would say we will pay to 100k and let the other school cover the rest.

He absolutely would. We might not like him but he loves coaching. And unlike WillHe has a legit resume. He would have plenty of offers.

I think, might be wrong, that he has to negotiate in good faith so maybe there’s a break but I don’t think it holds if it’s purposely low balling. I also think the market for him would be competitive which would keep offers at market.

I think Ron would probably take a job as well. Don’t see him sitting home. Heck he might go back to UVA if he gets canned. More about staying relevant and him name known in coaching circles

Even if Hill is a closet Chapel Hill homer like you say no way he sabotages his high profile job to appease them. If he is a true CH homer he knows they can keep us down without any of his help to that extreme.

So now this group has sunk to claiming our AD has no integrity. Nice.

Mike Hill positive thought.
Does not sabotage his own job for the sake of Chapel Hill.
