Agree - I could see this dragging on for a while. Marshall thinks that they might have a coach by week’s end and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if our process takes a little longer than that in a good scenario. I can remember college coaching searches that took a nightmarishly long time to complete.
When we start seeing rumors about candidates on campus or rumors about wives & children talking to real estate brokers in the neighborhood, then I’ll think we’re toward the end of the process. Unless someone makes a snap decision before the Butler/Duke game and before even checking out our facilities or their new office first, I could see candidates mulling it over a bit.
My guess is that our guy has been offered. He will be on a plane with Judy Rose from Indianapolis to Charlotte tomorrow, where he will tour the campus and be introduced as the new head coach.

It would have been nice for the new coach of the Charlotte 49ers to be

Just a hunch, but I think this is closest to being correct. There was probably a lag to the news about Mike Hopkins. His decision was probably given to Judy early Sunday, maybe even Saturday. In the meantime, we are talking simultaneously with other candidates.
If it is true that Pat Kelsey was already talking several days ago with the NCCU head coach about joining a potential staff, then I believe that he will be announced Tuesday or Wednesday as the new Charlotte head coach. By the way, he may be the “perfect” choice (but more about that later).
