You selectively left out a few distinct variables, South Florida University is located in Tampa Florida, which has a metro population of over 3 million people, and the university itself has a student population of over 50k, that is 20k more than we have so of course they can fill a stadium better than us, they have a larger population in the city where the college is located and and much larger student population, which leads to a bigger alumni base, and now you are bragging about an urban universities attendance, in your previous text you said that due to our location in an urban setting we and other urban universities ādraw flysā as a population barometer, let me just say this, as a UNC-Charlotte grad, I respect what ECU has accomplished as a program in football, but if ECU was new to a sport that Charlotte has been playing for generations, I would feel inadequate criticizing an undeveloped program after mine has been playing for generations, it would make me feel as though I was insecure, maybe even afraid that we have been playing a sport for 89 years and a school that has only been playing 8 years is already in the same conference as us and recruits on the same level as us, and over the last 5 years or so, has about the same win ratio as us

I donāt think any ECU fan ever had delusions about getting into any of those conferences. When we were rolling we do look like most any mid level P5 on game day though, and out drew 20 or so one year. Do that and beat them and I think is ultimately the goal. I donāt know what the numbers are now but up until we fired Ruff we had beaten more P5ās than any G5 and by a lot the previous 10 , 20, 25 years however far you went back. Even Scottie Mo beat NC State and UNC as bad as he was here.
If we are being honest itās actually easier to win in the AAC. Does anyone really think Cincy would go through the Big 10 or SEC with no losses. Just look at all the coaches that left the AAC and are struggling at their new places like VT, Nebraska, Arkansas etc. The AAC was a great conference while it lasted being able to play with national champs like UConn and all the football success but thatās about what I expected the pinnacle to be conference wise. If the playoffs expand to 12 teams I actually think our path is easier to make noise. We will also get a decade of good imbalanced money to create more space between the new CUSA 6 and Sun Belt. We just need to make it count and not squander it like we did AAC 1.0.
I doubt they had 50k students in the 90ās. I canāt find the exact numbers but I think it was like 40k when we started playing them. Hell they beat us when they were like 5 years old and were getting votes in the top 25. They were a legit good team drawing well. I couldnāt even hate on them when they went to the Big East.
FIU, FAU, Georgia State, you could say the same things about most of them you just did for USF. Thatās far more typical of how things go and you guys are more that than USF. Even ODU had a waiting list for their WW2 dump of a stadium and sold out like every game the first years. USF is unique for whatever reason, but they absolutely showed you didnāt need decades to draw fans or win certainly not 15k.

It is irrelevant of who is the better head coach. We have Healy and they have Houston. The future has yet to be written for either regarding the success moving forward and Iām tired of reading the back and forth between us and them. To be brutally honest, I donāt wish ECU any bad luck, but I also donāt give two flying Fās about their program either.
Letās get back to talking about our future and the hell with theirs.

Sorry I couldnāt make the game today guys. I had to go shopping, lol.
ā¦or work, or are traveling from 100ās of miles away, students on holiday etc. 38k man on a Friday afternoon. Seriously thatās what you want to come with?
No easy there was 38k in attendance. Maybe tickets sold.
I donāt know what you were looking at but it was 75% full easily even with 10k students we usually have allotted not there.
ECU sucks.

I understand the purpose of a chat room, but this is just a ridiculous topic as shown by some of the disgust of some of the earlier posters regarding the intent of this topic.
Iām all for arguing with other fans, but pick something worth arguing about. We have Healy and they have Houston. Unless you are willing to argue that Healy is worse than Houston or they are willing to argue that Houston is worse than Healy, any further discussion is moot.
BTW - I donāt want to just simply not read the posts as Iām a rabid Niner fan since 1995, thus my Iāll intent towards this specific topic. So I guess I will keep reading hoping that someone posts something that is earth shattering about either.
Healy is my guy until he isnāt since I will never pull for another team, even if my kids ever play for our competition.
Letās switch the discussion from Houston v Healy to ārate our guy, Healy,ā on such variables as Recruiting, Community involvement, Whale-giving, Team-building, Xs & Os, Assistants, In-game decision-making, Face-of-the-franchise, Player development, Young men development, etcetcetc. Arguing with/combating Wolf-Hart is a foolās errand.

STOP calling for a thread to be shut down just because you dont like the topic or the discussion, let people talk about what they want to, let people create threads on topics of their choosing, if you do not want to talk about the topic then dont click on the thread, quit trying to control everything, so are we supposed to just shut down every topic that you dont like or dont want to talk about, get over yourself, quit thinking that you are more important than what you are, DAMN, what is the point of having an OPEN forum if the threads get shut down because someone doesnāt like the topic or the conversation, WHAT IS THE POINT, grow the fuck up!
