Us sucking should never stop shit talking fanbases we hate. See Davidson App and ECU. Sports isn’t a logical Activity.

Are you seriously talking crap about us getting 38k on a Friday afternoon the day after thanksgiving when students aren’t even here? Not only are the 10k students we normally would get not here but a lot of people still have to work. It’s also the biggest shopping day of the year too, not to mention people traveling all over.

I thought the crowd was awesome yesterday actually. Our stadium holds 51k not 15k so yeah that’s what 38k looks like and it looked about 75% full.

Seriously, you didn’t fill up a 15k seat stadium all year. Right?

We can still talk crap about ECU and App but there football culture and game day atmosphere is way better than ours.

Cause they win. Winning solves everything.

This just in. ECU sucks ass.

An attractive bowl too. They accepted the Military Bowl invite today where we will face an ACC team. I’m hoping it’s UNC, but it could be UVA, VT, Miami etc. Really can’t go wrong there. The way we travel we usually get better matchups than teams of our record usually get. The only bowl that I was dispointed in was the time we played a MAC team and that was when we were leaving CUSA and they were screwing us. The AD announced had already sold 400 tickets in 2 hours he reported at halftime of the basketball game.

Some of that is based upon level of completion, it is easy to have higher attendance record when you are in a higher level conference, the fan base is excited to watch teams like UCF, Cincinnati, Memphis, SMU, S. Florida, and power 5 non-conference regional teams that are on your schedule

You could say that about a lot of P5 teams too. We’ve averaged 50k for an entire season before. It basically can look like any mid level P5 when we are back to winning. I would expect a lot of people that walked about after Ruff’s firing and stopped buying season tickets to comeback next year. Our QB didn’t walk on Senior day either so it appears he could be returning and we should be pretty good. We basically shouldn’t lose much of anyone.

We averaged 47k and 44k our last two years in CUSA. Our home games that last year were

ODU
FAU
Virginia Tech
USM
Tulsa
UAB

The fans were coming to see ECU, not those teams.

Can we just stop about the damn attendance. I just really don’t care anymore. We can put 1 or 100k asses in the seats and vice versa for ECU; all I care about are wins and until that happens, who really gives a F about attendance. Let’s just all agree that both of our penises are above average and move on.

You have been playing football since 1932, you have multiple generations of alumni to incorporate into your fan base, we have been playing football since 2013, and despite that gap in football history, we are bringing in close to 15k a game and we will be in the same conference as ECU, and a step above App St in conference hierarchy, and this is after only 8 years of football

Why the fuck is the ECU guy still here. Also ECU sucks.

The one solace is that you won’t get anywhere near the same money we do until 2033. You will still be a 2nd class citizen in the AAC for a while I think with the money being like 7 million vs 2.3 I think.

Being in Charlotte is a curse and blessing . For the same reason it helped you get ahead of App State it is also the same reason why you likely never have a good drawing fanbase or football culture. Look around at most big city G5 schools draw flys while most of the rural schools in the SEC worship at the alter of football.

For all the crapping you guys do on Greenville it provides the culture to have a mini SEC like fanbase and is an advantage. Personally I think Aresco made the exact wrong choice. Sure he secured the bag for the remaining teams like ECU money wise but schools like App State and Marshall are just better more sustainable programs IMO that will always care about football more. The Sun Belt is now a legit contender to the new AAC. CUSA tried adding all these markets once and it was a disaster. No one is watching on facebook live or whatever it’s on.

Can we suspend this tread it is extremely dumb? No new points being made.

Judging by just the two big powerhouse teams in each of the Carolinas, I would say that fan support is very similar, USC vs Clemson, and UNC vs NC State, two rural and two urban teams, I think that location is irrelevant, if you have time to develop a fan base and win consistently the fans will support a team regardless of location, as I stated before, we have only been playing football for eight years and we are already in the same conference as you, and building a fan base that will eventually engulf the city of Charlotte and bring in attendance records that mirror power 5 schools regionally

You think being in a conference with ECU is a big deal? Yea they have been playing football a lot longer than we have but there are/were a lot of things that held ECU back from being in a power 5 conference. ECU started out as a teachers college. They are not a research institution and they just recently became a semi medical college. UNC even fought against them when they tried to become a University. They will never be in P5 conference unless that conference is falling apart and once schools like ECU is added the TV money will be so low that it will be downgrades from P5 to G5 just like the Big East when ECU was added. Just because we caught up with them conference wise doesn’t mean jack. There will never be a ACC, SEC. or any BIG invite coming to ECU. And it certainly will not be coming to us. The only reason we got the invite to the AAC is because the AAC commish was desperate. It certainty wasn’t our crappy football team, nor anybody from our administration. With the way college football is shifting schools like ECU will always be peeking through the window waiting to tell someone about the 1991 Peach Bowl. And we will be sitting right beside them taking about we caught up with them. SMDH!

What a douchey post.

It’s not like you haven’t been a school with alumni or playing sports for decades. How many years do you think you need? Other schools have started up programs and never had trouble selling out 15k seats. The fact it’s nearly a decade and you still aren’t is not a good sign.

USF had 49k their first game to see them beat a Kentucky Wesylan a D2 school and averaged 33k that year playing home games like Kentucky Wesylan, Davidson, Morehead St, Charleston Southern, and Drake. You are just making excuses. Maybe they are the exception for every FAU, FIU, Georgia St etc but they clearly showed the excuses are just that.
