Miserable Game Experience around Downtown

Okay … for work, I am here in town at the convention center. I had two hours between 4:00 and 6:00 pm from work to watch the game. I have not seen our team play on TV or live at any point this season. Therefore, excited to be able to watch … or so I thought.

Errantly thought that I could catch the game near downtown - I don’t have a car. Negative, ghost rider.

Here are the span of events by which I did not get to watch the game.

 1. Go to Jolena’s. DTV box doesn’t work.
 2. Fuel. Dish Network, no game - couldn’t find it on the box. (No sports tier.)
 3. Light rail (first time rider - DEFINITELY not the EL. More like the Disney Monorail!) All while snowing - making it more miserable.
 4. Jillian’s. Sat there for 15 minutes before some mgr came to me and told me ā€œuh, we can’t find the game.ā€
 5. Tavern. DTV … says we are blacked out.
 6. Gave up. Light rail.

Nothing like keeping up with the game on TXT through 4info.

I should have just caught a cab to Picasso’s on East and have been done with it.

It couldn’t be much more miserable than watching Charlotte blow the game with both Jones and Phaler in the game with 3 minutes left.

So you’re saying I’m better off?

No just frustrated that Lutz would leave both of them in with the game on the line when neither of them contributed anything to our team. Jones looks lost out there and Phaler only should be on the court if we’re up by 30 points.

Hate to mention this, but there a Picasso’s downtown now.

I think its closed now?

Really? It was opened a few weeks ago and will packed. What happened?

With Ian injured and Mack fouled out with 7 min left, Lutz didn’t have much choice.

Phil wasn’t that bad, he just wasn’t quick enough to guard Mulligan. No comment about Phaler.

I feel pretty confident the Picasso’s downtown had the game on.

I didn’t even know there was a Picasso’s downtown … Real49er suggested Jillian’s … I would think he would know about the new Pic’s!

It’s on 4th and Church I believe.

FARRRRRRRK!!!

Me and about 7 other Niners were at Fox and the Hound at Ballantyne and the game was blacked out too. I called my wife and she said it was fine on Directv. We then headed across the street to Carolina Rib at and it was fine.

Maybe a stickied list of all the places that carry it (and the ones that say it is blacked out) should be posted to allow us to know where to frequent (and where to avoid).

Actually on the corner of 3rd and Church… it is alive and well… ate there for lunch a week ago.

I have to call bullsh-t on all this blackout talk. How in the hell could a road game in Amherst be blacked out here? I don’t have any special subscription to have MASN & MASN2 on Dish. Same deal at my dad’s house with DirectTV. Sounds to me like these places just have no clue. I’ll bet they thought you were the stupid one for requesting such an ā€˜obscure’ game (ā€œYou want to watch UNC-who? Uhh, sorry, we can’t get that here. Anyways, Maryland-Carolina is on, what could be better?ā€).

MASN is Channel 432 on Dish, and I believe it’s 626 on DirecTV. CSTV is Channel 152. Next time somebody tries to feed you that ****, you ought to demand that they just shut up and find the friggin’ game. Hell, you can even use the remote and the menus to do a text search on the schedule.

Oh by the way Homie, I guess you didn’t know about Champions, which is right on The Square in Independence Center (Marriott)? Not that I think they had the game tuned in, either. And I don’t remember the uptown Picasso’s being anything like the others, as far as being a place for sports viewing. Are they even open on weekends?

Hmmm, sorry, then, my fault. Maybe it was just dead the afternoon that I walked by…

The fact that we have to go thru all this just to see our basketball team play on tv…

…is a disgrace.

Yes, P3 as called by locals is open every day at 11am. Named best wide screen in uptown and had niner game on.:49ers:

Precisely my point … how in the (fill in expletive here) MASN is a better fit for keeping our fan base fed and enthused is beyond me.

No offense, but I don’t care how some guy in Maryland feels about getting our games - in fact, he’s not watching MASN …
