What are you guys talking about? According to todayâs Observer we won!!! Charlotte 78 Miss St 69.
a little harsh on dewhurst he played hurt today and is a solid player just needs a little more practice and work.
Yeah, to write off Dewhurst would be a mistake at this point⌠I think he has a lot of potential and look forward to seeing him grow as a player.
I donât remember exactly, but wasnât there an article that said DA was working all summer on his mid-range game with some NBA guy. What ever happened to that? So far, I havenât seen any changes from last year. If anything, he is throwing up more bad threes.
Bottom line is, all that we have to do is get better shots. I havenât checked the stats on all the games, but every one that Iâve looked at, we have shot the ball more than the other team. This means we are getting some offensive board work and thats a good thing. ButâŚit doesnât help to get offensive rebounds if we waste the extra opportunity on stupid shooting. We might as well stop crashing the offensive glass and save all of our energy for defense. I have coached before, and will coach again, and Iâm not saying Iâm a D1 level coach, but I do know that you have to adjust to the situation. That is something we are not doing. We play the same whether weâre up by 15 or down by 15. In my opinion, weâve got a bunch of great shooters on this team, they just take ill advised shots. If we work the ball around until we get decent looks, these guys will make the majority of their shots and we will win games. Nobody is a great shooter when they take stupid shots.
Here is a link to the box score.
Observations:
Dump Truck was 0-4, 0 points, 0 rebounds, and 4 fould in 12 minutes.
For some reason Carlos Williams only played 19 minutes. It sounded like he was playing pretty well putting up 9 points and shooting 50% from the floor.
DA was 2-11 from 3 point range. Lee was 4-13.
Solid game from EJ⌠12 points, 11 rebounds, 3-3 from the line in 36 minutes.
As a team we were outrebounded 47-41.
As a team we had 8 assists and 11 turnovers.
I am not a Lutz hater, I think he is fantastic coach, and I have defended him alot, but you cant defend a coach that lets 37 three point attempts become the norm.
Where the F have you been? Other than bad defense this is a Charlotte staple under Lutz. The only thing you can rely on under a Lutz coached team is bad defense and bad threes. I am a Lutz hater and it infuriates me that he canât or wonât change his coaching philosophy. Same shit every fâin year.
I donât know about the rest of you but i havenât lost my 49erPride. Yes they are going through a rough patch and DA has struggled to find a rhythm offensively. But you canât throw the team under the bus after 5 iâll repeat that number 5 games. Yeah we expect the best for our team because we want them to succeed but giving up on them and saying you wonât support them the remainder of the season is just insane. iâm sorry ID but you saying you are giving up your seats just because the team is doing poorly really disapoints me. Had higher regards for you but i guess i was wrong.
I find that when someone or in this case a group of someoneâs need your support when they arenât doing well. Yea it isnât fun to watch our guys lose and yes it probably is painful for us as well. But in all reality we arenât going to win every game we ever play. Even if we did go undefeated the rest of the season there is still a chance of us losing games the following year. Losing is a part of sports. It shows and defines a teams character. Whether they just give and say âoh weâre losers we canât win so we arenât going to play the rest of the seasonâ or they could say âoh snap! weâve lost 3 in a row we need to get our ass into gear and play like we know we canâ.
Personally I wish you would all would be there support the 9ers as loud you possibly can this next home game. THEY need your support no matter how many games they win or lose. You are still 49ers at heart as are they!
Im there⌠of course⌠facepaint and all.
As will i, i know people wonât like this thread but i feel it really needed to be said.

Agreed
They shot 35 free throws in the 2ND HALF! just the 2nd half!!! that is horrible!!
We only shot 11 the WHOLE GAME!
Iâm shocked we got 11, you donât get many FTâs jacking up 40 3âs.

Two things.
#1. This isnât 5 games, it is trend. Iâve been following this team fanatically for 17 years now and this is as depressed as I have been with the direction of the program. Not speaking for anyone else, the big picture is my concern, not 5 games.
#2. People havenât said âOh Snapâ since 1989.
Iâm shocked we got 11, you donât get many FTâs jacking up 40 3âs.
Stop it already. Seriously. I get tired of hearing this. Yes, we are relying on the 3 pt shot too much, but if you want to compare shot attempts then use a formula like this:
3PTA vs. 2PTA + FT/1.5
You donât get a 2PTA when you get fouled going to the basket.
Weâre basicly a 50-50 balance team. We probably need to be more like 40% 3PT. But we also need a post scorer to make that a reality.
I agree that we shoot to many 3âs, but if you do not have an inside presense, what else can you do???
Donât give me the crap about drive and dish, the defense is helping to much off of our big men and our big guys do not get open to receive the pass. They stand there holding their hand up.

agreed.
that 13-16 season we had a few years ago did not bother me that bad because it felt like a rebuilding year, now it seems we stay in rebuilding mode. There is a snowball effect happening here with no tv, no radio, bad schedule, the way we lose, other teams our size succeeding⌠its not just a few games.

I agree they need support now, more than ever & I will be there Monday night.
I guess when you get to a certain ageâŚI know it is different for each of us, you expect some kind of return on your investment (for me, my investment is time & money). IMO, my expectations for reasonable ROI are not a National Championship or even a Conference Championship. I do expect a product trying to find ways to make optimal use of their resources. RIGHT NOW, the menâs basketball program is very predictableâŚon the court, off the court, in the stands & in the media.
I donât see any change & I would be thrilled to find someone who could make me see otherwise. Given the environment of college athletics, I understand where you may have to kinda start over each season. But as stated by someone else at another place, ever since the rumors with Tenn, I have seen a different product put on the floor by Lutz. The environment, since the 4-5 game losing streak to end the season a couple of years ago, is DRASTICALLY different.
I canât effectively illustrate in words how badly I want to see this program succeed. I donât care who does what. I JUST WANT TO SEE A TEAM THAT IS OF INTEREST TO MORE THAN 3,000-4,000 people per game.
These players and coaches work year round to put on a show that is only guaranteed to happen 29 times this season. 20% of those 29 are done, gone, finished and right now there is nothing to grab onto to think it will change other than maybe the next game will be better. Thats not enough for me. Iâve lived too much on that in the past & it has worn out.
If those reasons, donât workâŚhow 'bout thisâŚif I donât go on Monday, I have to wait another 4 weeks to see them play.

Here is a tip NA, donât read it if you are tired of seeng it.
If you canât see we shoot too many 3âs you are as blind as Lutz is. Use what ever formula you want, we donât have the shooters to shoot 49% of our fg attempts from behind the arc. We donât have the shooters to do it 40% of the time. Iâm not sure if several members of the team know how to take a 12 foot jumper.
Listening to some of you, we are the only team in America without a big time post player⌠Wake up folks, we arenât even in the minority. We had a post player last season who didnât get nearly enough touches. It is a flaw in the scheme.

I am trying really hard not to agree with you on the âdownward trendâ but it is becoming increasinly difficult to convince myself of this.
Man, I miss the CUSA days.

When you continue to post this gibberishâŚ
Curtis Withers wasnât a post scorer. We gave him his chance. He dropped the ball (literally, a dozen times against NCSU). He was a tremendous rebounder and a great junkman, but he was no post scorer.

Speaking of gibberish⌠are you illiterate or simply to hung up on your own ideas you canât see anything else. Where did I say he was a scorer, he was a presence that dictated the defense account for him. He was a post player that could have done more damage in the A10 than he was allowed to do based on the offense we ran
Miss. State has a decent squad. Their 2 losses are to undefeated Clemson(RPI 19), a close 69-66 game and Winthrop(RPI 53) 74-63. It always sucks to lose, but atleast itâs a quality road loss. This is a big weekend for the A10. UMass is gonna have itâs hands full with BC who just beat Michigan St. You guys are @ Indiana. GW v Virginia Tech. SLU v So. ILL, Rhody @ Providence. I hope we can all get the job done. Go Niners, go A10!!
