Seems that non-racing events at Bristol Speedway go back decades!
Just learned that the 2016 “Battle of Bristol” between Tennessee and VT wasn’t the first football game held at BMS - it was a 1961 NFL preseason contest between Washington and Philadelphia: 
BTW, the game apparently was originally scheduled for CMS but moved to Bristol when things didn’t work out for it to held in what was then middle-of-nowhere Cabarrus County - just up the road on US 29 from the new campus of Charlotte College in the middle-of-nowhere Mecklenburg County!
