Moxley and Co

I just wanted to give props to Mox and company for doing a heck of a job recruiting this year. Especially with Mox landing three VERY good jucos. We haven’t had much luck with jucos lately…besides EJ, but it took him three years. But, these guys seem like they are the real deal. I would take more jucos like this if we can get them.
Mox also did the scout on SIU in our most complete game of the season.

I think we’ve done better with JUCO’s than some of the younger guys on this board think. Courtney and Antwon were the biggest busts and it hurt because they were both the same year, before that we’ve had many good JUCO players.

EDIT: Wow, I just went back and looked at the roster from last year, we had a lot of JUCO busts last year. Carlos, Jerrell, Courtney, Antwon, Sean. I just remember the good days of Cam and JZ. Looks like were heading back to that though.

You left out Carlos Williams, he was supposed to be the next SUPERSTAR JUCO to come in here. Got compared to another JUCO Sean Colson

Oh I think you can go ahead and throw Sean Phaler in as a JUCO bust. Heck JJ didn’t get much PT till his senior season so he was an average Juco at best.

Phaler isn’t a juco. He’s a xfer.

Yeah your right, I edited.

Curtis Nash!

On the roster it says his last school is “Anaheim Hills, Ca. (Fullerton J.C.)” ? So he transfered from a J.C?

He played at New Mexico... http://golobos.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/phaler_sean00.html

What??? Good try though.
He played a New Mexico?
Still played JUCO.
Curtis Nash!
I guess we need to define our JUCO suckiness but Curtis Nash wasn’t that bad, he averaged 10 points a game in Div 1 ball so I won’t put him in the same catagory as Carlos Williams.

Still played JUCO.
Also played Division 1 ball.
Curtis Nash!

HEY! Nash wasn’t that bad! He was more of a true PG than a lot of guys we’ve had.

From Phalers Bio

2004-05 • Freshman Season
Averaged 2.5 ppg, 1.0 rpg and 4.1 mpg in 27 games • Shot 39.1% from the field and 31.3% from 3-pt. range • Missed his last 11 3-pt. FG attemtps • Scored in double figures three times • Scored 68 points in 111 minutes of action • 10 of his 18 FGs were from behind the arc.

Make sure he sits the bench for our last few games.
HEY! Nash wasn’t that bad! He was more of a true PG than a lot of guys we’ve had.
He wasn’t bad as a SF, he was terrible as a PG.

we had a lot of JUCO busts last year. Carlos, Jerrell, Courtney, Antwon, Sean.

Bah. I preferred having a healthy Jerrell in the lineup then the vast majority of our roster last year.

He seemed to play hurt for more games than anybody - and would still grab rebounds over players 6 inches taller. I remember when he jumped back in the game right after puking all over Dayton’s floor with the flu. Gotta like that.

I was always very high on JJ (relative to the team he was on). He wasn’t the best, but then again neither was our team last year. I thought he always played hard, with intensity, and played D, which is something we could have used more of last year.
Curtis Nash!
Is his mom still pissed at us?

I might be wrong, but I think Nash was our first player to have a tattoo on his neck. He was a trend setter if nothing else.

Agree. And EJ had a very good first season, was headed toward a Nash-type senior season before being red-shirted, then really had a breakout as a 5th year senior.

And, yes, Phaler and Stephens were JUCOs, even though both began as frosh at D-I programs.

Also from Phaler’s bio…
