Oh,helllllll nah.
*Central Piedmont Community College rolls out new honors program; also asks media not to use âCPCCâ anymore
Good luck with that.
Are they requesting the media and public call them UCLA?
University of Charlotte, 'Lizabeth Avenue?
Good for Nate - shocking that an Observer writer would use UNC in the name.
Figured this should be posted here as well:
The athletics department officially changed its name to simply Charlotte in 2000.[5] Before then, the schoolâs identity suffered from years of constant confusion, most commonly confused with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Tar Heels). While UNCC and UNC Charlotte were the officially accepted athletic names, media outlets frequently used unofficial nicknames such as N.C.-Charlotte, N.C.-Char, North Carolina-Charlotte, UNC, UNC-C, UNCC at Charlotte, and others. When the name change was made official, Athletics Director Judy Rose summarized the sentiment that drove the name change:
âWeâre proud to be members of the University of North Carolina university system. But, frankly, we are tired of being confused with other institutions or having our own identity misused and misconstrued. Itâs harder to make a name for yourself, when your name keeps getting confused. Not only will this logo simplify matters, but it gives the program an exciting new look that better captures our essence.â
23 freaking years and they still canât get it right.
clt says the final name change is coming soon. the u is using just "charlotte " more and more
Unti we officially change the school name this is going to continue to happen. We have more than enough evidence to think otherwise. And we canât blame it on âgenerationallyâ anymore as itâs been 23 years.
UNC CharlotteâŚtwiceâŚwhy.
Ignorance and/or willful disrespect. Thatâs why.
For the 20th million time, name change NOW. Even if it happened today, some time would pass before people would stop referring to us as UNCC. Thanks again, Phil.
Someone on the board needs to run for state house and make this one of their platform points.
Name changes for all public universities that want to change.
The only way this happens is either Gaber agitates so vociferously that she beats down the BOG (which could seriously backfire on her if not done correctly) or an elected official pushes for change.
The elected official would not have to worry about blowback on themselves.
clt says the name change is happening, albeit slower than we want
Evidence?
