University Walk was on campus giving out freebies today. Among the freebies: White tshirts with baby blue coloring advertising their website (www.uncwalk.com). The girl working the event even lied to me and said they picked uncwalk.com and not uncCwalk.com because the latter domain name was already taken. I looked it up on godaddy. Not true.
I gave their free junk back to them and said they were doing harm to our students and school.
Was watching the WNIT toledo game highlights and noticed the score graphic had us as āUNCCā. Does CBS Collegiate Sports not KNOW?
Had a student ask me who my favorite team was last week. I said the 49ers. He said āNBA?ā He was getting us confused with the 76ers, I guess.

This gets under my skinā¦ Just seen a quick news brief just aired from WTVIās morning crew and they mentioned the Charlotte Knights baseball exhibition game with us. Only thing is, the anchor (I believe it was John Carter) called us āUNC 49ersā. I notice that this happens a lot on our local news. The local sport anchors have been getting it right (finally) as of late, but dang on, we could avoid this all togetherā¦
Iām sitting in class right now and the girl in front of me is on the womenās rugby team at Charlotte. Sheās wearing a shirt from āThe Air Emirates USA Rugby 2011 Menās and Womenās Division II College Playoffsā which apparently took place April 16-17, 2011 in Kissimmee, FL. They have the list of participants on the back for men and women and sure enough our University is referred to as āUniversity of North Carolina, Charlotte.ā
