NCAA Eligibility rules being challenged

And the answer for most player’s will have to be “Yes.”

I am sure some judge will rule soon that players aren’t even required to enroll in school to play with the team. Shop for a judge to find the ruling you want.

This has gotten incredibly stupid. I’ll always love UNC Charlotte. I’ll always support the teams, but I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel any connection to this.

College sports was this awesome thing that we all loved. And we have taken the thing we all loved about it away and turned it into u25 sports. Which aren’t that entertaining…

Further proof. Another cool thing ruined by greed.

And I don’t mean the players. The NCAA could have made this fair and equitable a long long time ago, without destroying the basic fabric of the sport.

But their member institutions and coaches were too busy counting up all the money they were making.

Or drop down to D3 to get back to real college sports.

Sooner or later there will be a university that just says to hell with all this it doesn’t support our real mission and drop to D3 non scholarship.

There are a lot of very fine schools that play D3. Whoever does so will be in good company.

It would not affect me in any way other than (presumably) not being able to watch the Niner’s on TV (which was the majority of my fan ship).

I will still be at the games. Whatever division we are in.

And there will be plenty of people that want to play for the love of the sport.

I work with a guy who played D3 football at Umass Dartmouth and had to quit because of injuries and he was heartbroken. He loved football that much.

This.

If the NCAA had taken those steps back when they had all the power we would not be where we are today.

I am beginning to feel like as long as you don’t play for a P2 team, you have unlimited eligibility to play for one of those teams.

What is crazy is nearly all of this could be predicted 5 years ago… in fact it was.

As soon as NIL went into effect the end result was always going to be the elimination of eligibility rules and the minimization of academics.

Like conference realignment we can all see where its going to end - its just small steps to get there with each one eroding established norms.

Established norms?

We don’t do that in America.

Or did you mean, established Norm!!!

Why are academics a part of this still?

Just drop the charade and eliminate it and save us some money.

Say what? The NCAA’s determination? Sark, how about finding out what actually transpired before opening your mouth. Geez!

Setchen is an attorney who claims to be an athlete advocate! Of all people, you’d think he would have read the document.

Been wondering if Nika will do this too. Spent one season at Texas juco Ranger before transferring to UL Monroe.
