NCAA Investigation of UNC-CH

this part I actually do believe. Student athletes, namely the ones who are in the major sports of basketball and football, have so much handed to them on plates. They have their schedules worked out for them, they’re given tutors, “study areas” with all the equipment they would ever need. Heck, half of them don’t even know how to register for class.

So, where the normal student or human being would be like “hey, this is sketch” - it doesn’t surprise me that a student athlete doesn’t think that this is ‘how it is’ for all student athletes.

It’s a problem.

http://thehickoryhound.blogspot.com/2011/07/where-are-unc-board-of-governors-part-2.html

I’m not going to lie, I haven’t been keeping up with all this crap. Can someone give me the low down on if they are going to take away scholarships and bowl eligibility? (If they even make one) Or when they are going to decide?

Dr. Bill Friday stated in an Interview with WRAL in Raleigh that, “It’s been a difficult time but like good North Carolinians we’ve admitted we’ve made the mistake. Now let's move on.” said Friday. Last October, in an interview with the same television station, he even went so far as to state that all of college sports needs reform. He has basically admitted UNC-Chapel Hill's guilt all along, but he seems to want to put the punishment/sanction part to the side. In the article above he stated that, "He believes UNC can recover if it deals with the scandal honestly with a goal toward institutional control."

You see the problem is that this former UNC system President seems to believe that UNC deserves the benefit of the doubt. In his mind, pious ethics and the mythical “Carolina Way” are supposed to lend UNC-CH some sort of “Get out of Jail free” card. Is this the same Bill Friday who wanted to condemn NC State’s sports program 20 years ago under a lot less conspicuous circumstances? Or the same Bill Friday who just one year ago tried to stop UNC-Charlotte from starting a football program?

What we have seen over the last year has shown that the “Carolina Way” is a fraud. They operate no better than any other program and their prior attitude of condemnation never reflects back on themselves. Now there is the repeated talking point, “Everybody Does It.”

Dayum!

I’ll be much more direct - Mr Friday is a hypocrite, plain and simple. Being a hypocrite also makes Mr Friday a fraud, so his words should not be weighed seriously.

Everyone in this state seems to like to kiss Bill Friday’s ass and talk about all he’s “supposedly” done for the University “system”. I’ll give Dick Spangler this much credit, he doesn’t pretend in any way, shape or form that he’s anything but a Chapel Hill partisan.

I won’t argue with you but Friday was the one who put the UNC basketball program on probation himself in 1961. State and “Carolina” had both abused their recruiting tactics during the Dixie Classics and in other ways. Friday wanted then basketball coach Frank McQuire out of the picture even though he had recently won a national championship (1957). He limited out of state schollies to 2 a year and cut the schedule to 19 games a year. McQuire left for the NBA and later coached South Carolina and managed to succeed in getting them put on probation and inelligible for post season during their undefeated season in 1971.

With that said, I despise the entire sports program at UNC and I despise their twisted, faggy acting, biased reporters coming out of their School of Journalism just as much.

One more thing. After McQuire left, Friday handpicked his successor. Someone name Dean but I forgot his last name.

The summer of 2009 there was a thread on here wherein i got flak from a couple of posters because I stated that I hoped Charlotte athletics never became what Chapel Hill is. I now rest my case. F’ck Chapel Hill athletics. (and the horse they rode in on ) Only the advent of the internet prevents those bastards from forever perpetrating the ridiculous fraud of the “Carolina way”. Butch Davis still being employed there tells you everything you need to know . If I were a UNC-CH alum, I’d be raising Holy Hell with whoever would listen.

I’m just glad the Observer PRINTED all those “Butch Davis Deserves A Raise” articles on daily basis for a about a month.
Mike told us then that a “BIG TIME” program like “Carolina” deserved a coach like Davis.

LMAO

I had forgotten about that. I thnk Metro bumped that quoute and thread as soon as the investigation of the UNC football team began. Big Time Program my ass. Their School of Journalism Grads want you to think they are big time.

NC State fan site investigates UNC football player, media follow

This month, the discussions went beyond the usual taunts. Several message board users scrutinized documents in the spirit of investigative journalism and discovered that a prominent Tar Heel student athlete apparently plagiarized one of his college term papers. The revelation raised further questions about academic integrity at UNC, which already is the subject of a long-running NCAA investigation.

The discovery also helped set the news agenda for the mainstream media and sports blogs. The blog Sportsbybrooks.com picked up the Pack Pride members’ finding, and the Raleigh News & Observer this week ran a front page story that stemmed from the allegations first raised by message board users. The story also has been featured by Sports Illustrated and other media organizations.

“You’ve got fans now that can break stories,” said Pack Pride managing editor James Henderson, who noted that many of his site’s visitors feel the media has been too timid in its coverage of ethical lapses in UNC’s football program. “The fans on our site feel like there’s a lot there if you dig into it, and that’s what they’re doing.”

Something for NN.N to shoot for.

The use of a free internet program by the UNC honor(?) Court would have detected Mr. Mcadoo’s plagiarism. Chancellor Holden Twerp says the use of that program is unnecessary. He also admits the Tar Hole player lifted large portions of his term paper word-for-word, but Mr. Twerp still thinks the player should be reinstated. They have no shame!

I broke on here before the media that the Duke lacrosse case was crap.

They were still were a bunch of rich pussies

So confussed at the timing of this. Makes no sense to me why they would fire him now. Oh well, who cares. I hate them!
