NCAA - Is winning the Tourny the only way?

Are you Rick Majerus?

"If you win the league, you should go (to the NCAA tournament)," Majerus said.

“And you should protect those 1-2-3 seeds. I said this yesterday: even if we won this tournament, I wouldn’t feel good about going. We would take an opportunity away from someone who deservedly had a chance to go. I think hope springs eternal, and God bless a team like San Diego for winning. But if San Diego costs Saint Mary’s or Gonzaga a bid? … So you tell me what message that sends.”

Seriously, why shouldn’t a team get rewarded for the ENTIRE body of work and especially how they are doing over the 2nd half of the season? We are NOT the same team now that lost to Hofstra and Monmouth. If we were to make the Big Dance, it wouldn’t be because we “backed in” like some BCS teams do.

don’t think they deserve to be in the NCAA tourney.[/QUOTE]

You’re right, if we lose in the tournament, we don’t deserve to go.

Here's my take. We are only 7 wins away from playing in the Final 4.
DOBA

we have an RPI in the 60s and 20 wins…and a ton of bubble teams lost…i say we’re back on the bubble, and we have a chance if we lose in the conference championship. but just in case, let’s go ahead and win it all.

They are early season losses for a team with a ton of new people. Considering what we have done on the positive end, these losses can be somewhat forgiven (maybe not by the fans tho). Had we lost to either a month or two later, it would be a different story.

How many bids do we have to award this group? I’d rank them

E firmly the best
C/D very close
F I want to punish for the 4-8 over the last 12 (looks like Zona) but 10 Top 100 wins is strong
B
H
G
A

I have a bias towards quality wins and away from poor play down the stretch. Ranking teams purely by RPI is fools gold.

Guess who team D is?

It was obvious

Point being, we win tonight, we are firmly on the bubble.

I tend to agree with this, except, even though they have 10 top 100 wins they have 12 losses. To me that’s essentially a losing record.
