So all this talk about private equity investing in college athletics being the future and all it ends up being is a line of credit that everyone seems to be smart enough to decline. Great job Yormark. Way to blaze a trail.
I mean, seriously. When I posted the news that this was just a crappy line of credit that these institutions could probably get elsewhere, I was wondering who would be stupid enough to take it, especially with the PE control + stipulations.
I hope Charlotte would be smart enough never to take such a deal if they had the opportunity.
I still believe that fiscal responsibility is going to be a key factor in survival in the coming decade.
Especially for non flagship schools like us who are not going to be bailed out by state law makers, deep pocketed donors or multi billion dollar endowments.
I’m pretty convinced that many G6 schools that got into the financial straits of a Rutgers, FSU or UCLA would have their programs shut down by the state.
