Netflix vs Blockbuster online?

Anybody had both? Any recommendations? I know the quick suggestion is Netflix. But I will not be renting a lot of movies a month. I noticed Blockbuster has a rate of $4/month, while Netflix’s lowest offering is $9/month. Blockbuster seems good for my needs, about 2 movies a month. But I’m worried the Blockbuster selection is crap compared to Netflix.

Does blockbuster stream? Would you use that feature?

I do (netflix). I stream about 1 movie/month. Selection isnt the best but its getting better.

Can stream HD movies on my 360 with Netflix. Way cooler.

I have Blockbuster…nothing like driving to the store after you’re done with a movie to get a new one that day.

I think we have this discussion once every six months. Netflix and it’s not close.

I have both my pc and my xbox hooked to the same HDTV, so Ive had the benefit of trying both types of streaming.

The XBox does it well, and it’s hooked to my surround sound speakers, whereas my PC has its own little 2.1 set.

Aside from that, the PC is better. Quieter, cooler, and higher res. Then again, my PC is a beast compared to my xbox. graphics card scales images better.

If you’re computer saavy and have loose morals as far as copyright goes, premium usenet newsgroups blows them all out of the water.

For streaming, gotta go Netflix. Even though I hate the company…

You dont even need usenet groups. I may happen to know of a direct link to a summer hit movie that anyone can watch, hulu style. I started watching it the other day but I was too hungover.

haha this has to be the twentieth Netflix vs Blockbuster thread. That and Sirius vs XM, there are a ton of those on here too.

REDBOX.

REDBOX.

FTW

Redbox is strong, but Blu Ray account + streaming on Netflix > Redbox.

Care to expand why?

Geez, sorry board police. I always forget what is and isn’t allowed to be posted.

I have a netlfix option that is $4.99 a month and I get two movies a month.

I’ve had both…each have their separate pluses. Netflix is cheap, and you can access the movies on your game consol. Personally I think the xbox quality sucks. My biggest dislike with Netflix was you don’t get the new release movies the day they come out online. So you still have to order them through the mail.

Blockbuster when I had it was more expensive than netflix but I think they are more competative now. To me blockbuster had a wider range or american movies, where netflix seems to have more international movies.

If it comes down to it, I’d recommend either…but if you don’t want to use the computer and xbox capabilities then I would go Blockbuster. If you will use those then you definitely want to go netflix.

Or if you can’t make up your mind try both! Its easy no hassel cancellation at anytime for both.

Thanks! I think I’ll try Blockbuster. I don’t need streaming, like the in store option, don’t care about international film quantity and apparently it’s a whopping $1 cheaper than the comparable Netflix option.
