Exactly. I said the same thing about the guy driving the wagon with horses with his goods into town. What if he had a F 250.
According to this, last time Niners were ranked was March 2005.
BTW, polls for 2009-10:
If you had told me 15 years ago that we’d be hiring a former tar hole player who’s also a former sincy coach as our next coach, I would’ve said you were insane. I may still say it today.
Anyway, if he resurrects our program back into the Big Dance on a regular basis, he can be anybody from anywhere. I just want to win and be relevant in March again.
Here’s our new head basketball coach
Yep, in spite of what Run posted i could have sworn we got inside the top 25 that year when we got to 18-5…..alas, I can only assume what run posted is correct.
That article uses some of our fans Twitter burner accounts as sources. I don’t think anything is for sure yet, but it does look like it’s headed in that direction. After the Mike Houston screw up I won’t believe anything until there is an official announcement from the University or from Miller.
Agree 100%. Strong D and get out in transition for easy buckets.
I thought we were ORV after that temple win but not actually in the top 25. Of course either way, this is a every depressing conversation.
Could most of us possibly agree that Bobby Lutz was not a bad coach. He got us ranked and into the NCAA tournament. Not sure leadership realized that it was not the university getting us there but rather strong efforts from the coach maximizing the benefits of our University. History generally puts decisions more clearly in focus. Looking back, firing Lutz was a mistake. Many will say firing him was not the mistake but not hiring a good replacement. It’s not been that easy has it?
Lutz was definitely a good coach. Administration definitely sucked. The amount of goid coaches who we have interviewed, or spoken to since his firing that we passed only to hire major, price, ron and fearne would make you sick. It’s not that hard to hire well, unless judy or mike is your AD
Could Wes be waiting on the possibility that the carolina job would be available?
The salaries differential noted by Hunter Bailey does bother me, but Miller being out of a job, getting 3M+ ( think that is the figure I heard ) from being fired and wanting to prove himself may be enough that he would accept the job.
No way Cheat hires him as the head guy after getting canned at Cincy. Even if he is one of theirs.
Just don’t really see them going that route. Unc is a top job in the country. They can grab almost anyone they want. I don’t know that it would go over well if they hired a coach that Cinci just fired.
I know some unc fans online are clamoring for him, but I just don’t see it happening.
If Davis does indeed get canned, Heels are going to have go outside the “baby blue” family. There’s no one else on Roy Williams coaching tree who could seriously be considered for the job.
I mean I did know someone who was in the UNC booster club tell me a few years ago that one of the major requirements for some of the major jobs at UNC was that the person was UNC guy. This was done in order to keep certain stuff in house. It’s why they 100% knew Hubert Davis was going to get the job when Roy retired. But with the way college sports is going with NIL and other things maybe that’s no longer a real requirement.
If Wes Miller was that concerned about the possibility of the Tar Heel job, he could reach an agreement that included an exit clause “a` la” Lou Holtz with Nortre Dame.
If Davis is fired that would be 2 of 2 former hole player turned coach to be fired. Doubt they risk a third. I bet their next coach breaks an NCAA record for coaching salary.
This feels like Mike hills first hire with football. Smoke with a coach only for the rug to get pulled. If this happens again…
there’s no way Carolina’s gonna hire Wes Miller at this point in time
