HIGH POINT ā Since Appalachian State University on Saturday pulled off what some are saying is the biggest upset in college football history, team merchandise has been in high demand.
Fans have been flocking to local sporting goods stores in search of anything to show off their team pride.
At The Locker Room at Oak Hollow Mall, the hottest item is a T-shirt displaying the winning score in the victory over Michigan. The store received the shirts Tuesday and by Wednesday had sold several, said store clerk Doreen Daniels.
āWe sell a lot of Appalachian State anyway ⦠but right now, people are looking mainly for this T-shirt, or just anything to celebrate,ā Daniels said.
At Omega Sports on N. Main Street, the rush for ASU merchandise began as soon as the game ended, said Daniel Prevette, assistant manager.
āWeāve seen a lot of people coming in, especially after the game, looking for Tās and paraphernalia,ā Prevette said. āWeāve definitely seen a pickup in people coming in for App stuff.ā
This week, sales of ASU items have at least doubled and maybe tripled, Prevette said.
He said one style of T-shirt has sold out, and the remaining championship items from last year almost are gone.
