Is this a joke? Seriously, we are going to the A-10, student interest is going to go way down. Do we really wanna be tinkering with ticket distribution? Lets compare apples to apples so after this season we can see just how big of a s#ithole we got ourselves into.
FRATS PUT ASSES IN SEATS! Good luck bringing people in with Gang Green Club Gold. At $20 a head, you may be able to afford a pizza party before the big George Washington game.
NNG is a part of the 49er Club and run by the same person. It’s to educate more people about being involved with donations and such after students graduate. I graduated in May and received NO information about the 49er Club. The idea is to educate while students are still in school to help bring in more after graduation.
Yes, Frats put asses in the seats, but they will still show up! The frats agreed with the ticket changes, they will still go to other sporting events to build up their individual points. But instead of 10 people doing the work to get 40 seats, it’s on more of an individual responsibilty to get better tickets.
Campouts are worth more than going to other sporting events? WTF? Way to build support for the program Einstein. This idea supports an all night drunken sausage fest more than the Mens Soccer team. Brilliant!!!
Campouts are one of the biggest ways to get the message out to people that there is a basketball game. People walk by all the time saying “why are you out here?”, you have to keep the campouts to keep that free advertising. You also have to make them worth more, which is harder to do, go to a 2-3 hour soccer/volleyball game or spend from 8 PM to 8 AM outside in the cold? In order to keep camping you have to make insentive. The idea is to give people options, no one is going to camp every game and go to every other sporting event, the idea is to give people with different schedules different options to gain points.
The online ticketing sounds way way to complicated. Students put up with enough B.S. registering for classes. They dont wanna go thru that crap twice a week. And, with everything online, where is the campsite gonna be? Outside the computer labs??
It's going to be as complicated as signing into your 49er Express account, making a couple of clicks and optionally typing in the names of people you want to sit next to. If you can't handle that then have fun with the general admission seats. Also letting people print their own eliminates a huge burden on the ticket office. It should eliminate the hour long lines once people understand taht getting their early doesn't really effect what ticket they will get. Getting this online was a big part of the plan from the ticket office's POV. With the enormous amount of commuters this school has it can only help getting more people involved. And remember, the online portion is optional, you will still be able to get GA seats in the 200's without going online at all. Considering only about 200 students who showed up with an ID last year got lower level seats, the vast majority of people will be getting the same upper level tickets they would have last year if they show up a day or two in advance with their ID.
The biggest complaint last season wasnt about filling up the lower level. The problem was filling up the upper level and getting everyone to wear the same color. When is someone gonna work on fixing that instead of adding complications?
What has been done to hurt getting people in the upper levels? If anything it's been helped because friends can show up at different times and get their tickets but still sit togther because it'll be GA up in the 200's. A demand for lower level seating has been added, last year there were really only about 170 tickets in 104 that campers faught over. Next year over 1,000 will be open to any student who wants them. People who didn't camp because it was too time consumming can now still get lower level seats by going to other events. I don't see how the demand was hurt. Also, by eliminated the Greek seating, it opens it up for the Greeks to wear the correct color shirts to games finally. That along with the school producing Niner Nation shirts will only help the shirt color problem.
This shows what a incompetent department we have going. This school is relying on students for these types of important decisions. Unbelievable.
The entire plan was come up with by employees in the ticket office working with the ticketing company. Students who were interested have come in and shared ideas about the specifics. Our first meeting we went in and were told that the 200's were going to be GA and that the lower level no longer had any group seating. These decisions were made without the help of students, but the students are being asked to share ideas about possible problems and solutions. How terrible is it that the ticket office wants the people the plan will affect to have some input into how it works?
Bottom line is that this plan is meant to give people some “ownership” into thier tickets. They can no longer just hand their ID to somebody and sit in 104 because their friends camped out. And no longer get 105 just because they are in a Greek organization. It doesn’t make it HARDER to get a ticket, as you can simply show up to the ticket office and show your ID and still get a ticket in the 200s. But it will increase the amount of people dedicated to getting lower level seating. Not everyone is going to think it’s a great plan, but not everyone thinks the one we’ve had in previous years was so great. All of the freshman are being educated about it, if the ticket office is able to successfully get the rest of the students educated it should work fine. The few clicks you will have to make online while checking your e-mail may be annoying to some, but I’m pretty sure a few people will find it a little less time consuming than standing outside the ticket office for an hour at 8 in the morning.
