We played an elite team – in their gym – coming off a loss – who has never lost two games in a row in the HISTORY of their building!
Our catalyst was sitting on the sideline!
I wanted to go 3-2 in this five game stretch, 4-1 being greedy. We still can! I was as disappointed as the next guy with the second half (and much of the first), but the Bearcats came out poised and executed with precision. Sometimes very good teams do that! Should Prosser be fired for losing to FSU, a team that lost to FIU and Texas A&M-CC? Did UNC send Roy packing when they lost to Santa Clara without THEIR POINT GUARD? Should Withers be taken off scholarhip? How about sending Goldwire back to Florida, since he didn’t perform like a seasoned veteran? I don’t know how our guys play as well as they do 80% of the time with so many mindless hacks that are ready to shoot them when they get off the plane. If we win, they suck, if we lose they suck…It’s still is a game, right…

Goldwire is a 18-19 year old true freshman!
We had seven guys!
No point guard!

In the long run, that will be a good experience for Lee. He really struggled at first but I thought he at least handled the ball well later in the game. I knew we’d be in trouble if we had to rely on him or take Eddie out of his natural position but Lee has some promise. Just not ready for that type of game unfortunately.
I hope Mitch’s injury isn’t a nagging one because we’re in BIG trouble without him. Wouldn’t have made a difference tonight likely but it will on Saturday. Lutz didn’t sound incredibly optimistic about it in the postgame show but you have to believe he’ll play at least some limited time.
I’m trying (not easy) to keep my head up on this one but I agree that Saturday may go a long way to determine what tournament we play in during postseason.
I totally agree. Marquette game is a huge game. Aren’t we still tied for 1st in C-USA. Tough loss tonight, but damn, chill out. Funny how ninernation.net turns to ANTIninernation.net in the span of a 40 minute game. Actually it’s comical to see some of these posts.

We got out coached, out hustled, and the other team wanted it a hell of alot more. Everything else is BS.
You're drunk if you think we got outcoached. Coaching was the only thing that kept us in this game for the first half.
Our guys played like they didn’t have a heart beat. Plav and Eddie were the only ones that showed squat. We got man handled by a very good team. The refs, on most occassions, were letting the game be physical and no team is going to win a physical match up with Cincy. They’re too tough.
We lost to a very good team coming off a home loss with something to prove. We looked lost at times on offense without Mitch. Against some teams you can wing it on offense and still win, Cincy isn’t won of them.

If we had lost by 10 and played OK I would have said no problem. But to take the pipe like that is inexcusable IMO
I know one thing: 12 points and 5 rebounds COMBINED is completely inexcusable for Withers + Iti in a game of that magnitude. And I hate to come down on Nance but 2 points in 24 minutes from him isn’t exactly picking up the slack. Our frontcourt was abysmal tonight…totally abysmal.

Exactly. They played like they had no heart. It was pathetic.
You know you can set your watch by the comments that will always come on this board after we lose a game. It’s really quite comical.

I think our strategy was to pack it in with the zone D and make them beat us from the outside. The zone worked out for the most part in the first half. I was impressed. The second half, they started hitting their outside shots which forced us to come out of the zone. By then it was too late. What did they shoot for the 2nd half 80%??
We stayed in the game in the first half because Cincy shot worse than we did,
Yeah, and Lutz’s defensive adjustments had nothing to do with that huh?
IF you don't think Huggs didn't out coach Lutz you need to wake up.
No. You need quit trotting out that tired old line everytime we lose a game. Cincy made very little adjustment after halftime.
Look at the adjustments Cincy made from the 1st half to the second half and look at the adjustment we DIDN'T make and tell me that isn't being out coached.
Enlighten me on these adjustments. The only adjustment Huggs made was taking Maxiell off the low block and having him drive to the hoop. It worked. He either scored or got fouled and was defended by our post players who played horrible and managed to rack up fouls.
Lack of a defensive adjustment to cover Williams.... Coaching
Yeah, I mean all the coach has to do is say cover Williams and it just magically happens. The players have no role in it.
Curt Jacking up 3's without recourse..... Coaching
Yeah, couldn’t be bad decisions on his part now could it. I mean he was only shooting 50% from out there on the season and couldn’t get a call down low all night.
And I firmly believe that a coach is responsible for ensuring the effort is there.
And I firmly believe a coach can only do and say so much. It’s up to the players to execute.

I forgot to add 6 turnovers between Curt and Iti to those highly impressive scoring/rebounding stats for them.
When our frontcourt is playing like that, hell, I don’t blame Plav for jacking up 30 footers. I would too.

Debateable. Agree. Agree, What part of the other comments are BS? Seemed pretty factual to me. Since we all agree that we aren’t “elite”, how many very good, seven healthy body clubs would have gone in and smacked the Bearcats around?
Nobody rips their own program and players more than our fans after a loss and after most wins! Well, maybe Carolina and NC State fans…Somebody remind me why these guys even bother to put on OUR uniform?

I don't think it could be said any better. Nicely done.
Losing at Cinci is never a surprise. Losing by 22 is a bit excessive considering the talent we have. Getting outscored by 26 in the second half simply shows me lack of heart, something which I simply can’t take. We won the first half so I don’t understand how the loss can be blamed on the loss of Mitch, or any one player for that matter. Losing a half by 26 is a team effort, including the coaching staff.
But, I’m still and will always be a Niner fan. We do have a talented team but, I understand that they aren’t talented enough or disciplined enough to be able to bring the “A” game everytime. They will lose more games this year but I don’t think it will be that many because we do have a good mix of talent this year and we usually tend to improve later in the year.
When we lose more games this year I’ll be upset. If we don’t make the tourney and advance to the Sweet 16 I’ll be pissed. If we play other games this year without heart I’ll be outraged!!!
You guys have a right to be mad about losing to Cincy but at least they are a ranked team.
We just lost to F’in Tulane on a miracle 3 at the buzzer of OT. We also lost to USC on a 3 at the buzzer. We also got tore up by a bad Richmond team.
You don’t have any bad losses so be thankful for that.
