Nice Coverage in Big O Today

I have NO problem with the Duke/UNC game getting the spread they did today because it’s a huge game and deserves that much press. But, ONE sentence for our game??? We literally got ONE sentence.

I think the Observer has done a great job this season, especially the stories this past Sunday. But today’s coverage is absolutely pathetic, regardless of the Duke/UNC game taking place. This may not be Cincinnati coming in, but it’s a very important game for us and there are a few angles that could have been played today in the paper. I wasn’t expecting a feature story but ONE sentence? Disgraceful.

I’m glad that I not relying on the Observer to tell me that there is a game today. It took me a few minutes to find our sentence this morning. <_<

Yeah, I actually thought we would have a game story. I finally found our little write-up. I'm sure Jena had plenty of information ready...just no place to put it. Oh well. It may be the first time this year, we didn't have a story, though.

Is there any ad about the 2 for 1 deal tonight by chance in the newspaper today?

Yeah because heaven forbid we save the "Charlotte's 3rd Indoor Footbal Squad" story for another day. No excuse to not have a story so why bother reaching for one?

I didn't see the 2 for 1 advertised but I could have missed it. I don't have the paper with me. Hey, that would have been a nice tidbit to throw into a story.

what’s this??? jcl observer bashing AGAIN!

Glat to see my subliminal messages I’ve been throwing into my posts are starting to have some effect. B)

Let’s just hope you-know-who (MP) doesn’t show up in a few days to discuss Halton not being filled for the Houston game.

Jcl, if you read the Big O again, you will find that they actually gave us two -- yes, count 'em -- two whole sentences!

One thing to say really quick. The Observer sucks. I think the 49ers get more coverage up here in the Washington Post than down there in that kiss ass paper. The observer has its head so far up UNC/Duke’s ass they could tell me what Coach K and Coach “I have never won anything in my life” (Williams) had for dinner. Until the 49ers make a big run in the tourney the Observer will continue to ignore us. And when we do stay off the bandwagon Observer. And the other thing. Somebody give me the phone number or e-mail address to Packman or whatever the hell his name is. He and his Dad are first class ASSHOLES. I wish Martelli would have knock his ass out last year. Billy Packer is a joke and from what I hear his son can eat shit too. And if i hear one ore thing about the Cameron Crazies I am going to puke. Going to Cameron is like going to a star trek convetion. Might be the goofiest, ugliest peole I have ever seen. And they are led by the head rat “splinter” who passed out this weekend. Now somebody give me that phone number to dickface Packman.

My mistake run. I mistook a period for a comma when reading that highly in-depth breakdown of tonight's matchup. Okay...I apologize to the Observer. Two sentences makes me feel a lot better than just getting one sentence.

MD, I like your intensity but the Observer coverage has actually been very good this year. In fact, I think it's been exactly what it should be (FINALLY). They did however drop the ball on this one.

2 sentences? What did it say? Did it say something like this…“Charlotte plays Houston tonight. Game at 7:30”

Here it is:
HOUSTON (14-9, 5-4 CONFERENCE USA) AT CHARLOTTE (15-4, 6-2) 7:30p.m., Halton Arena

Houston has the conference’s only win against league-leading Louisville and is coming off wins against Saint Louis and Memphis. Charlotte is 8-2 in home games this season, with wins in the past six at Halton Arena.

your right Lefty, it has gotten better. But I seriously can pick up a post and find out more about the Charlotte game than the Observer sometimes.

Come on Jcl, that almost 3 sentences- there’s a compounded sentence in there.

I think there is a rule or something that they have to have a pitiful sports section. As Penner says wafer thin. The sad thing about the Observer is the only things worth reading are the Sports and Comics.

Yes, the Observer has done much better on post-game coverage and has done a handful of really good individual player pieces such as the one on Eddie this past weekend.

That said, the pre-game has been bad to awful, IMHO.

No way. The Observer Forum is true entertainment. That’s by FAR the best section of the paper.

Did anyone notice the very large ad in the paper about the Cincinnati game in Saturday’s “Local” section? It promoted the game and the bobblehead but I don’t understand why it was placed in the local section. Besides that game sells out anyway, I wouldn’t have wasted advertising for that game. It would have been better served for tonight’s game.
