Not trying to get flamed, but seriously, am I the only one that doesn’t feel drawn to the “Bell Tradition”? I’m willing to bet that most Charlotte alums don’t know it exists. Not trying to be a downer, but outside of the mentioning during commencement, the bell is no way remembered or recognized around campus as anything special. It’s a generic emblem. I’ve heard Dan Morrill talk about the “Beat Duke” chant going on while it was rung the day we became a University, but other than that the bell doesn’t hold any significance really. I just don’t understand why it’s “tradition” is coveted all the sudden. It’s not ancient. It’s not a landmark. It’s prob kept in storage until needed for graduation ceremonies. The site/sound of it doesn’t releash fond memories of Charlotte for me. I’m pretty sure most Charlotte alums would identify.

One that I’d like to see us work on, is what to do when the team scores 49 points (I’m an optimist).

Should be something that involves the entire stadium crowd, something highly visible, and unique to our program. Any ideas?

It shouldn’t be anything derogatory toward the other team because we could score 49 and still be losing. I imagine that a short/simple song would be decent. I’m drawing a blank right now.

If nothing else, there is always the chant that members of QCA pull out anytime one of our soccer players boots the ball to the other side of the pitch.

I like the spelling it out thing, but the “GOOOOO NINERS” thing at the end has always seemed lame and cheerleadery to me.

Something else that QCA has been doing that I really, really, really like is the Bhoys In Green chant brought over from Celtic FC. It is, in my opinion, the single greatest call-and-response in sports, and I think it would be perfect to start out an offensive posession.

Easiest thing to is have the drum corp start everyone off with a synchronized clap/bleacher stomp that progressively builds to kick off.

I was hoping the soccer goal kick chant would carry over to football kickoffs:

“OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO N-I-N-E-R-S GOOOOOOOO NINERS!”
