Niner Football Traditions

Exactly and the Normbulance is perfect for this sort of thing.

Light parade? Did I miss a slide?

I wish there was some way we would let people know about the real history of Charlotte football - how it actually came about. I know we have some stuff online, but we need to get this info out to the casual fan. I’ve heard the ā€œa woman who was giving millions to the university didn’t want football, then she diedā€ story twice in the past week, and the ā€œfounders’ grandson died playing footballā€ story once in the past week as well. My biggest problem with this is that it just takes away from the true history - a small group of people that wouldn’t stop pressing the issue. I doubt it would happen, but it would be nice if we could get this in any sort of ā€œfan guideā€ or gameday program we produce - and specifically deny those two stories.

Yes on the Friday night before the game.

I have thought about handing out a flyer at The Normbulance that talks about the real history of 49er football.

If you do I’ll absolutely grab one. I’ve been so interested in Football since I got here (about 2 years ago), and I’ve wanted to know a bit about not only the Football program, but the University itself. I’ve looked around a bit and would love to learn about any information that I may have missed.

Time permitting I will put something together. Ever since Jimmy’s post in the football thread about in time it will be forgotten how we came to this place - I am determined to make sure that is not time while I am still kicking.

We should pick a September game each year and re-enact the March To the Endzone from 2008. That would give folks a great opportunity to learn about how this got started.

I wonder how much it would cost to have a plaque of the real history of football bolted to the ā€œJudy Roseā€ Football Fieldhouse.
I knew about the bell - but it wasn’t until I graduated that I actually saw it. I can completely see how if you didn’t walk you have no idea we had a bell.

I like building it up to be more, it isnt a HUGE traditional thing here, but we dont really have anything that is.
Yep, I took a look at my graduation pic last night and guess what, there’s the bell. Never really realized it was there before. It’s like it’s always been there but hardly noticed. Time to change that, imo.

How much would it cost to finance hell freezing over? That is what it would take for the AD to allow something like that.

Carrying the goalpost is one of, if not the, proudest moments in my Ninerdom.

I came across this website last night. I think we could fit the Charlotte Yell into our traditions.

I prefer the team yell or echo yell. Both really capture the spirit of our name recognition issues.

Welllllll… There didnt use to be a c-pic on the hill at the track until me and two others designed the grid and spray painted the original one there… After the administration saw it they made the permanent one you see today… Soo short story shorter… Make a plaque and post it up inside football aug 31st

Where do I sign to make this offical?

C.C.U.N.C. Owls football page

I thought it got started by Judy’s tireless work behind the scenes for 2 decades. :-*

I hope we have a nice looking program for game 1 (all games for that matter). I really like the C.C.U.N.C program from Charlottean’s link
