actually he was removed with 2 outs in the 5th. We were up 10-4, but there were 2 on first and third. I suspect Hibbs wanted R on R. Its one swing from being 10-7.
the A10 game was 11-1, Rhody had 2 hits the entire game. The lone run was a solo shot.
what I am saying is JMU was rallying big time, Stahl needed to come out. In the A10/Rhody game there was not a single rally nor close to a threat.
Hibbs also knows tendencies you nor I see. Maybe he knew Stahl was done or doesnât react well in that situation, etc.
At the point in the game where he was taken out, he was starting to lose control. However, the real rally didnât start until after he got pulled out of the game. It is a tough decision, especially since it looked like we were in cruise control. But after he came out of the game, they found their bats and the game was out of our hands at that point.
Well said. 49erMatt should have been there when I was there ('98 - '02) and no one even came to the games. We have come along way and the program is only getting better. Last year spoiled us I will admit because beating State's ass was awesome. And our golf program? Man, I would have never dreamed that in a million years.
Hey moose thanks for the input but 99 to 03 is when I attended and I know what your talking about attendence wise. With that said, expectations are still to low. No one is asking for a national championship this year but I donât think one win in the regionals is asking for to much.
We have the same goals, but this isn't the year. We had young pitching this year and they need to develop before they can make noise. No team is going to win the NCAA tourney with a Freshman #1. With all that we lost from last year, I'd say we did very well this year.
Iâm not sure why you guys keep talking about national champioships like thats what we are expecting. No one has said anything about winning the whole tournament, all were saying is winning one game in the stinking regionals isnât asking to much for a 43 and 13 team.
you're clueless- and I bet you got cut from every girls softball team you ever tried out for.
read the facts: not one of our starting pitchers from our opening series in Feb threw in Raleigh. We were patched together and lucky to get where we were.
and to pile even more in your faceâŚOUR BEST RELIEVER had his face shattered (literally) a month agoâŚdid ya know that Yogi???
Listen man your 4700 plus posts empress me about as much as our regional apperance. All that tells me is you have way to much time on your hands. So donât come at me acting like your the all knowing lord of sports. Every team has injuries and yes we may have had a few more than other teams but the last time I checked pitching staff injuries donât affect team defense. Or wait, maybe thats girls softball Iâm thinking of.

Dang dude who peed in your fruity pebbles tonight?
Technically, he is correct. While pitching staff injuries would certainly effect team defense, they do not affect team defense in the slightest. In fact, quite the opposite.

when a young pitcher isnât throwing well it can affect every aspect of the game.
Opposing team gets on base more frequently.
The over all defense suffers because you donât have an experienced guy throwing.
The team digs a whole because when more runners get on base generally that means more runs are scored.
The more runs you give up the harder it is to get those back
Team morale plummets.
Guys try to over exert themselves to get those extra needed outs to end the bleeding.
Thus all creating bad over all team defense because of a young inexperienced pitcher.
guess you havenât watched baseball that long either. the two definitely go hand in hand.
Happens all the time usually when you have a great pitching staff with no injuries the defense looks a lot better because the pitcher is forcing opposing batters to fly out or ground out or even better yet strike out. But when the pitching staff is inexperienced that is when you see guys hitting into holes in the defense, walking, and getting base hits.
Experience and healthiness makes defenses look good.

this thread has eroded  but I am gonna spell it out for our spelling guru Matt:
good pitching gets balls hit off the handle of the bat or the end (not off the sweet spot). Bad pitchers tend to give up more balls hit on the âsweet spotâ creating line drives. If youâve ever hit a ball (doubt it) then youâd know getting jammed from a good pitch usually is an easy ground ball.
so in fact yes, pitching directly correlates to what type of ball the defense behind you has to field.
Good one, did you come up with that all by yourself. Maybe you should lighten up a little. You sound a little bitter.
Youâre damn right Iâm bitter. Lighten up? I think you started the rediculous ranting. Better mood today, or does it just feel different when itâs directed at you?
Hey dude, if you keep making four consecutive posts to argue with the people youâve pissed off, youâll get to 4700+ in NO TIME!

Dax, I donât think you got that I was making a joke. See, affect has two different meanings as a verbâŚ

No. The best thing going in my life is my family. The best thing going in my life is my girlfriend. The best thing going in my life is the fact that Iâm alive and while things may not be too great right now, Iâve got a lot of things going for me.
NN.N is merely a place that I go to connect with others who share a passion for 49er athletics. Most of us do, however, know how to spell. And thatâs without a spell checker.
