Niners in the NFL / Pros

Anyone know if DuBose has practiced at OTA’s.

Damn! Alex is looking AllPro! I was shocked to see how big Alex looks next to LaMarr Woodley! Dude was a monster in his prime, but Alex is that monster now. He’s going to bash and mash dudes this season!

Not sure what is wrong with Grant. His ankle maybe? This is not good for his chances.

DuBose hasn’t practiced since being drafted in the seventh round.

“I think anytime you’re talking about a young player that hasn’t been able to participate in practices, yeah, those are valuable reps,” LaFleur said. “And we talked about it the other day after practice, just how meaningful these reps are for these young players, especially when you’re learning something new.

“It’s one thing to sit there and learn it in the meeting rooms, on the board, watching the tape, but it’s another thing to go out there and do it. So, I think you do naturally fall behind, and it’s going to be on him to try to – you try to stay into it as best you can mentally and try to get those mental reps, but there’s nothing like those physical reps.”

Look who is #6! Thanks to Matt Williamson finding this gem.

Alex Highsmith

Pittsburgh Steelers · OLB

  • QBP: 63
  • QBP rate: 13.8%
  • Hurries: 34
  • Sacks: 14.5
  • TO-QBP: 2

Highsmith’s arrives on this list after Pittsburgh’s much more widely known edge rusher, T.J. Watt, missed seven games. That is not entirely coincidental, but more importantly, it adds to what was already a highly impressive season for an edge rusher who has blossomed in the NFL.

Since joining the Steelers via a third-round pick in 2020, Highsmith has developed into a surprisingly powerful force off the edge who benefited from playing opposite Watt.

Instead of receding into the background when Watt was sidelined due to injury last season, Highsmith put together the best year of his career, more than doubling his previous single-season high for sacks and posting a QB pressure rate that was better than many of the NFL’s household names. That’s more than worthy of a spot on this list.

Now! Here cometh Larry! Healthy and secure. Larry gonna be an even better wrecking bull this year.

Good for Alex. Honestly a little less than I expected him to get after the season he had last year, but not by much. He probably could have gotten a little more if he took it to the open market, but there is value in playing for a well run organization.

A couple million more to go play for a dreadful franchise isn’t worth it.

$28 million guaranteed is sweet
