Niners Sign PG

Scout.com reports the Niners have signed Dijuan Harris, a 5’10 PG who played at Victory
Christian in Charlotte before spending one year at Hillsborough Jr. College in Tampa. He will
be eligible immediately and will have 3 years of eligibilty.
Like most of you, I’d rather not sign a JUCO but at least Dijuan (I think that is correct spelling)
has 3 years left to play for us. Have not been able to uncover any stats, but apparently he improved a lot in his one year at Hillsborough. He was already academically eligible coming out of HS, so he went to JUCO just to improve his bkball skills.
I would assume this means that Jerrell Lewis is tranferring, because we are still hoping to sign
Lamont Mack, the JUCO combo forward from Angelina College in Texas.

Thanks, Charlie http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=428&p=8&c=1&nid=3052988

A one-star? I must say, I’m baffled by this one.

Maybe he’s related to Devin Harris and we don’t want another NBA relative like Curry to slip away. Wait, no, we’re not going Jordan. I don’t know.

I’m sort of confused as well…

He’s a signing for basketball, correct?

Maybe we’re getting him so that he can play 2 sports when we field a football team next year…

And, don’t ruin my fantasy…

.

If Lewis doesn’t transfer, that will leave us with 4 PGs for next year… Carlos, Gerrity, Harris, and Lewis.

Harris will play backup center for us next season.

I’m confused as to why this thread isn’t in the Recruiting forum.

Thanks Charlie. I will be interested to see what coach is doing.

A Little googling:

Pfeiffer Men's basketball coach Dave Davis announces the signing of Dijuan Harris from Victory Christian in Charlotte to a National Letter of Intent. Harris was All-State, 1st Team All-Conference, and Team MVP while averaging 14 points and seven assists per game this season. He was also a great football player running up 2,405 all purpose yards as a senior and had 10 interceptions. Harris was the Most Outstanding Player in the Shrine Bowl, was All-Met, All-Charlotte Observer and scored 24 touchdowns. He was a highly recruited football player before settling for his first love basketball.

“Pfeiffer is the perfect school for Dijuan,” said Davis. “His game both
offensively and defensively is made to play at full speed. He has
incredible speed and quickness and he can push the basketball as well as
anyone we have ever had here. Our point guard situation was an area of
weakness a year ago, and Dijuan will make an immediate impact on our
program. We are very lucky to get such a quality player. We recruit
Division I talent and we have to get players of Dijuan’s quality to win
the National Championship as that is our goal at Pfeiffer. DJ Blackmon
and Dijuan Harris are as good a players as there are in the state of
North Carolina and we are so fortunate to have them. I was at the
East-West All Star game and saw DJ play as well or better than the guys
going ACC. Dijuan was better than the point guards they had playing in
that All-Star game
,” added Davis.

Pfeiffer returns seven players from last year’s team that led the
country in forcing turnovers and offensive rebounding. The Falcons have
won 98 games the last four years and led Division I and II in scoring
three of those years.

Despite Sutton's dominance, the Patriots needed some clutch plays in the final minute and a favorable bounce to secure the win. Hawks guard Dijuan Harris converted a three-point play with one minute to go to bring Hillsborough within three. After two free throws by CFCC's Eli Crawford, the Hawks' Aubrey Brown quickly drained a jumper to restore the one-possession deficit... Down two points and without a timeout to draw up a play, the Hawks' Harris took the ball and sprinted straight up the right sideline as the clock ticked under 10 seconds, finally twisting his way into the lane and lofting a soft running jumper. It bounced twice on the rim before falling off the cylinder, and Martin shoved his way to the rebound with 0.9 seconds left in the game. Martin made two free throws to seal the victory... Harris scored a game-high 23 for the Suncoast Conference champion Hawks (19-11)... Stats: Harris 9-18 4-6 23

Because he’s not a recruit?

He is a signing.

I am in some serious need of “Green Tinted Glasses” to pull me away from the ledge right now. I’m not pissed about this guy, i am upset with the direction we are going.

I’m really, really pissed off right now. No offense to Harris, but we bypassed Whitehurst and Mack for an off-the-bench juco guard?

Phil Jones, Gaby Ngoundo, An’juan Wilderness, David Booker, Javarris Barnett, Charles Dewhurst - they’ve played a combined 140 minutes of college basketball (mostly from Booker). And our “need” is a 3rd or 4th string point guard with Juco experience?

Played at Victory Christian last year.

Heres a quote from Harris
“It’s real early and I have about 15 schools that are showing interest. But, I’m a hometown kid and I always wanted to be a 49er. Charlotte is like my Duke and North Carolina. It might not be Duke and Carolina but it’s my Duke and Carolina. Through it all Coach Lutz has a winning program every year.”
I don’t think all 4 of those will be here, or else we wouldn’t have signed this kid. One or two are probably heading out.

Gerrity starting, Lewis as backup, Harris 3rd is the way I see it. However with Lee next year Lewis may not see much PT.

Carlos is gone?

Carlos is gone?

Of the ones we have he’s the most likely IMO (note I have no info to support that). His PT really fell off during the year, and if Lewis didn’t leave last year or the year before, he’s not leaving now I wouldn’t think.

And I don’t think we’ve passed on Mack at all. Last I heard we are still in good shape with him.

I’m a little confused about this as well…but I would assume that there is someone leaving that we dont yet know about. I would bet money we still have one to give.

at a glance…I dont mind the signing (if someone is transferring) Local kid with 3 years of eligibility…and ya GOTTA love this

But, I’m a hometown kid and I always wanted to be a 49er. Charlotte is like my Duke and North Carolina. It might not be Duke and Carolina but it’s my Duke and Carolina.
