Has Phil Jones been cleared by the NCAA and practicing with the team like Delroy James (similar circumstances at Rhode Island)?
Here’s a frightening thought: What if the open schollie is Phil Jones?
Phil is good to go. He wants to play next year and has been getting it done in the weightroom and classroom. Dont think he can practice with the team as of right now.
Lutz wants to play agressive attack-the-basket basketball next year. I guess Harris must be really quick and athletic, hopefully he is an Ish-Smith type (yeah I know he probably wont be THAT good, but you know what I mean).
ID, cheer up buddy! This signing is GREAT news! This kid is going to be a STUD. He played at one of the best basketball powerhouses in the nation for high school ball (VC), and lit up the JUCO ranks. I would imagine Lee will solely play the two, and Harris will average 10+ assists from the pg slot. Why is everyone worrying!? This kid SEALS THE DEAL that we are Final Four-bound next year!
Not if it means we are stuck with a walk-on type player for 3 years. We could hold on to the schollie and pick up a 3-4 star guard in 2008.
How many four star guards are on the team now? Three stars?
Maybe this is as good as we should be expecting from now on. What is our proposition: Come play for a mediocre A-10 team in the heart of ACC country where you will get very little media support, mediocre fan support, and might not play in the postseason. Go Niners!

If the level of play stays the same, I believe the 1 year is better...
Couldn’t agree more
NOO!

Agree again
22.73 3pt fg% (10 for 44 on threes)
38.67 fg% (58 for 150)
64.36 ft% (65 for 101)
Yep, sounds like we’re really going to get away from jacking up stupid 3’s all the time. Based on those stats, I think he’ll be a perfect fit into our current system. Can barely contain my excitement with this prized player.
Wanna make it clear that this is the first I’ve heard of this.
That said, I smell a system fit here. Lutz has wanted a “jet” at PG for years, going back to when he drooled over Jarret Jack.
The numbers say this kid is a terrible shooter. Gotta believe he is being recruited so Lutz can play at an insane pace without turning the ball over.
Hopefully, he’s a decent defender. I also hope we cure cancer.
(okay, at least he leads his team in steals @ 2.30 per game)
I’ll wait and see how this turns out, but to me, it’s a definitive statement of Lutz’s change of direction. He’s gonna play small, super-tempo ball and just try to outscore other teams. A la Duquesne (but with a full compliment of players, unlike them). It’s all about increasing the number of possesions in a game and getting as many looks in transition/against not-set defenses as possible and forcing the other team to match offensive Points Per Shot/Possesion efficiency.
Lutz did say that he thought they had to rethink how they recruited, maybe this is a point of emphasis that this guy fits some sort of role that the team has been lacking, whether it be leadership, hustle, etc.
Kid could be a borderline walk-on, he could be a solid bench player, or he could be a Charlotte version of Chris Lofton (not recruited heavily at all) type of player.
We have seen plenty of teams have a great deal of success without 3 and 4 star recruits.
In all honesty I am for a change in approach by the coaching staff.

Small, athletic with a few shooters and BIG Phil. Gerrity and this kid can run them to death.
