time to make some changesā¦
Lutz, whether deserving to be fired or not, has a point about the open shots missed. I counted 12 uncontested shots our players missed, not including free throws, which are obviously uncontested. If we assume all of those shots were 2 pointers (and, if you saw the game, you know thatās impossible since we only shot like 5 non-3 pointers the whole time), then thatās 24 shots our players blew despite not being covered. Whether Lutz deserves to be fired or not, thatās awful.

What does it say when you have a team full of players that canāt hit open shots?
[LIST]
[]You recruited shitty players
[]Your practices allowed good players to lose all of their skill

Which is why I didnāt say whether or not Lutz deserves to be fired. You can decide for your own how much it is the fault of the coach when players miss open shots. I know some people who think everything that goes wrong is the coachās fault, some who think that a player is accountable himself when he blows an uncontested shot, and plenty in the middle. But I figured it would be interesting to point out that there were 12 (that I counted) in this game.

I hear you. Iāve always been one to stick up for Lutz and put some responsibility on the players, but Iāve got to wonder differently after watching this for several years in a row. Weāre doing something wrong, and it needs to change!

I feel you. I love Lutz, but I donāt know what to think after tonight. I mean, obviously, we were bad in EVERY facet of the game. When you lose like that, I think literally every person that went with them to Hawaii deserves to be scolded to some extent, from DA all the way to Lutzās wife. As for firing Lutz? I wonāt go there yet, but I can understand 100% those who will.

Way to cover your assā¦
I think the ire coming from everyone is most likely because none of us are used to the 49ers being this bad. Itās been a long time since weāve sucked so bad but itās bound to happen at some point. Weāll just have to muddle through this year.
Why do you guys continue to even let it eat at you this much and continue to act suprised by these outcomes? Many here realized after North Texas that we were going to suck this year, plain and simple. Some of you refused to believe that and just continued to think that we have a good team, that Lutz is doing a great job, etc. How many more debacles like last night before you just accept that we are a very bad team and very poorly coached right now? Itās just not even worth getting bent out of shape over. Just take it for what it is this season or youāll end up with gray hair from the stress.
I havenāt been bothered by a loss since Mississippi State because I lowered my expectations after N. Texas, immensely. Sure, Iām pissed that our program is at rock bottom (though I still think weāve yet to see the worst of it) but I refuse to get bent out of shape over this team. This team and coaching staff isnāt even worthy of my stress or misery. Weāre bad. We will be lucky to win 10 games this year though 7 may be more realistic after seeing back-to-back blowouts by teams weāre historically superior to.
This program needs a change. Both on the court, on the sideline and in the Administration. Until at least 2 of the 3 happen, weāre going to continue to spiral downward.

i nominate this paragraph as statement of the week.

Agreed. I went to bed with about 7 minutes to go in the game. Thats twice now in the last 2 gamesā¦before Davidson, I canāt tell you the last time I gave up watching the 9ers.
Its just brutal to watch. Bad, bad basketball. Even the announcers are looking at us wondering aloud what we are doing. Embarrasing.
Iām afraid. I wonder how many 20+ point whippings the administration will endure, and how much fan apathy? I donāt think Bobby will resign although he should. We need corrective actionā¦and quickly.
Ditto. I canāt believe how apathetic Iāve become. I never thought Iād see the day.
They were just amazed by how fundamentally bad our offense was. It isnāt just shooting. Our entire scheme is a joke.
The problem with any knee jerk move is that we could lose all of our recruits if we arent careful. No matter what, we donāt want that. We wonāt have a frontcourt at all if that happens.
now we know how all those Carolina fans felt during Gutheridgeās desctruction
how do you be nice and get rid of family

I agree that could happen NA. But, whats the big deal? If we get a new coach he could bring new recruitsā¦and the thing is, how much worse can we get anyways? A 2 win year? Weāre dangerously close to being that bad as it is.

Honestly, this is the first time in YEARSā¦actually I canāt remember the last timeā¦that I purposefully missed a game. I didnāt watch it, listen to it or even follow it on a ticker. I know how bad we are and I donāt want to waste time watching the misery play out. I would rather be pleasantly surprised later that I missed a win (which I didnāt).
We are about as bad as a team can get. We are literally unwatchable.
Our confidence is shot.
Have our players quit on Coach?
These players may not be Top 25 recruits but they were all VERY GOOD recruits that CANāT be THIS bad.
I donāt know what the problem is but it is definitely spiraling out of control in the wrong direction.
What sucks is that the Niners are my main Vice. The only thing outside of family that I spend a lot of money on. I get so excited every year about College Basketball and the Niners. Now, for 2 years in a rowā¦all of my excitement has ended long before the Conference season starts because of how bad we have been.
It feels like 3 seasons since I have watched and enjoyed TRUE Niner Basketballā¦and now I have to wait ANOTHER year!
This sucks.
LUTZ SUCKS.
Enough said

There is no way we will find enough warm bodies to eat up the minutes weāll have available at the 3,4, & 5 next year Iron.
They might not be All-Americans, but Wilderness, Jones, Whitehurst, and Gaby (I cant spell his last name) will definitely be better than a bunch of last minute juco stiffs.
Without those 4 guys, our frontcourt next year is: Bones, Booker & Dewhurst with NO subs. Do you seriously wanna see that?

I hate to break it to you, but youāll have to wait more than just a year.
