They Dorned the entire NK storyline.
It sucks theyâre having to cram all of this in 6 episodes. Guessing thatâs why tonight went like it did. Wrapped up the NK. Now moving on to the South.
But we didnât see Arya take the NKâs face! She will show up later with it.

That would be absolutely awful sheets. After tonight, we should probably expect it. Theyâve dumbed this shit down ever since they left the source material. And it showed tonight. Even Sapochnik couldnât save it, though it was pretty to look at.
Whatâs terrifying is that B&W wrote the last episode. Expect full on fan fiction by that point. Ugh
On the bright side⌠GRRM now has every reason to finish the books and give ASOIAF a proper ending.

Possibly the ending is that someone has to sacrifice themselves to become the new NK, which would be tragic.

Fanbase is trying to rationalize last nightâs let down with a theory that Bran will perform a Time reset, which makes no sense.
I thought Arya being the one to do it was great, I was hoping it would be her. She is the most dynamic character on the show. I thought the necklet removal and dying by Melisandre was weird and without reason. (I get the, her destiny is now fulfilled angle, but it would have made more sense for her to die than to kill herself. Also, despite her efforts, I found her failing to really get any redemption for the murder of Sheren (sp)).
Are we officially down to one Dragon now? It wasnât clear.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly , Williams, 22, revealed that when she arrived at the table read for the eighth and final season, she hadnât read the full script yet â and as a result, had no idea that Arya would be the one to put an end to the Long Night. The twist was so unexpected, in fact, that she initially worried fans wouldnât like it.
âIt was so unbelievably exciting,â she said. âBut I immediately thought that everybody would hate it; that Arya doesnât deserve it.â
âThe hardest thing in any series is when you build up a villain thatâs so impossible to defeat and then you defeat them. It has to be intelligently done because otherwise, people are like, âWell, [the villain] couldnât have been that bad when some 100-pound girl comes in and stabs him,ââ she continued. âYou gotta make it cool. And then I told my boyfriend and he was like, âMmm, should be Jon though really, shouldnât it?ââ

I wonder how people would react to the episode without the barrage of wild theories that preceded it. I think people get a little carried away sometimes with their ideas (me included), and it ends up making the actual content seem kind of bland and a letdown. It will be interesting to see how people react that pick this series up later and binge watch it, probably a really different experience.
That said, I kind of liked and kind of didnât like the episode. Aryaâs scenes were all mostly interesting (like). The connections to earlier story points was nice, like the dagger and the killing move (like). The scenes with the unsullied making several dramatic and tough stands were cool moments with fitting music (like). The blurry darkness was just hard to tell what was going on (didnât like). The flying dragon scenes looked somewhat beautiful but were mostly disorienting and felt inconsequential even as they were happening (didnât like). Theonâs standing to the end was pretty well-handled, his easy dispatch by the Night King was a bit weird (everyone seems to like long-running charges in this show).
I almost never like close-up battle scenes because itâs hard to see whatâs going on. But I can see what the director was trying to do, to make the situation seem hopeless. And they achieved that I think, I was ready for the Night King to win and the heroes to slink off with few survivors. While I wondered what Arya was up to when she ran off, it did seem like the bad guys were headed to victory there. Now the show seems to be headed toward the more familiar territory of intrigue and politics to finish off the story, though it wouldnât surprise me to see this night king death to be a fake out of some kind. Ok, no more wild theories from me.
