People shit on Lostâs final season. This is so much worse.
Losts final season was pretty terrible.
This last episode was actually by far the worst for me, much more so than the battle of Winterfell.
The last season of Lost had some really good episodes. The weakness of that season was the way the answered some of the mysteries with unsatisfying answers. But at least we got answers.
We are 2/3rds of the way through the final GOT season and every episode has been weak except for maybe episode two. The last episode was the worst of the entire series run.

GRRMâs polite comments that they are rushing through the material to finish the show are becoming painfully apparent due to what increasingly appears to be moment to moment character changes without the proper foundation, and usually with really awkward dialogue and other mechanics.
Pretty obvious that Dany is supposed to be descending into madness via losing both of her closest friends and not being able to trust Jon and his family. Itâs also obvious that this is supposed to be turning to a battle of the Mad Queens, which is incredibly selfish, rushed and unnecessary, but itâs what the fans want, and D&D didnât build a proper foundation for it and why it has to happen right now.
Their heavy handedness includes making Dany & Cersei dress and start talking and even looking a little alike. Battle of the Mad Queens.
I also love how they suddenly remembered Dorne. You know, the largest standing army in Westeros that so far has not even fought in any of these battlesâŚ
The show runners tried to justify the ballistae by saying Qyburn made them 60-70% bigger than the one Bronn used last season. Still,tactics? Attack from the rear, maybe? Still mind numbing that you have autistic stoner boy who can see everywhere and you donât use him for recon. Sigh.
Varys has already put his plan in motion to supplant Dany with Jon, before he even talked to Tyrion. But again, this is rushed as hell, and so it feels ridiculous. He will burn before this is done, as he is a different kind of zealot.
Most of the episode was a weak play on the âthis is not meâ theme.
I guess the only part of prophecy left is this:
Which certainly seems like whatâs going to happen when Drogon ignites the remaining wildfire in Kings Landing.
This basically summarizes how I felt about the last episode. Left a couple things out, most namely that Cersei has no honor and would have obliterated Dany and her battalion when they were at the gate, yet for some reason, let her go.
Real World: Winterfell - I am angry that I didnât think of that.

This echoes my thoughts as well. It was so hamfistedly telegraphed that itâs almost certain to be right:

Shouldnât anyone having had grandiose visions of how the series would culminate only be blaming themselves for not recognizing how little time 6 episodes actually represents?
Like GRRM said, they could have done it with 2 more FULL seasons. D&D want to move on to Star Wars.
That said, I can appreciate it for what it is and so far it hasnât pissed me off.

The whole show has just seemed so pointless now. Dany wrecked the city with 1 dragon. She could have just flown her 3 dragons there alone seasons ago with no help and destroyed kings landing apparently.
But back then she wasnât crazy. NowâŚ
I do think her fall from grace was rushed, but they had to cram a crap ton of stuff into 6 episodes. I thought last night was the best episode of this season.
