Official Stadium Construction Thread 🏟

I know they are planning on bringing in some temps. The challenge really is the set up is pretty expensive so to get the roi you need to sell a decent number of tickets to multiple games not just one, the challenge though is yo are renting the seats over multiple non revenue days. Like if we bring them in for Chapel Hill we would need to keep them up for Monmouth and paying rent during the entire week. IF we beat App and who knows you dream and we beat heels we would sell all of those seats, if we lose both those temps will be a money waste.

Contrast that with golf - they put them up and then use them for 3-4 straight days, selling tickets each day with fairly known demand, then take them down.

They also have an eye on not allowing too many extra tickets that then opposing fans buy. There is def a sweet spot for us to get some more revenue and our fans in but it’s not as simple
As just add temps.

I don’t expect to see any delay with the construction currently approved and funded beyond typical construction delays. The opposing side though - that could def be delayed, but since we don’t have that money right now it’s not like there is a start date being pushed back.

I don’t give a shit if a Tarhole gives us a single red penny.

I agree with not wanting Tar Heels on campus. I do want to pull in the local community in an effort to grow our support base.

Business has a lot to do with negotiating. A good negotiator could address the rental fee when not being used. Make it a win/win. The company that owns the seats is not making money when they remain on their site.

If they have demand at other venues, it may not work. I’m sure there is a company that would seize the opportunity.

The big question seems to be, do we have the ability to sell the seats? I think so.

Guess who a BIG chunk of the local community are fans of?

I agree with what you are saying - but the dynamics of the charlotte market will make it tough. Just like when the panthers play the redskins or the cowboys.

They are going to do what they did with ECU. Limit options and ways of getting the tickets and try to keep baby blue out. If there are too many seats the stadium will be a huge contingent of heel fans.

Correct! I am all for us trying to limit the number of tarhole fans as much as possible. Adding a bunch of extra seats will likely mean a lot of them unfortunately (especially with Bill Belichick now).

I thought we did a pretty good job limiting the number of EZU fans last year. There were still a decent amount of them but they were mostly gone in the second half

The potential problem is I think our next home game after UNC CH is Monmouth which will not need extra seats. I could have the order wrong, and it may be reverse and then it would be the conference first home game which could need extra seats.

Nope you’re correct it’s Monmouth and I agree!

When we hosted App at JRS for the first game of the season, they left the temp seats up until a hurricane warning forced them to take them down. Not sure if they plan to do that or not. Depends on the company we rent them from and how soon they want to remove them. Doubt they stay the whole season.

Those seats were up for fordham as well before the App game.

The plan for the Duke game was to have temps, but the states covid capacity rules still being up in the air that spring and summer derailed that plan.

I’d prefer to have an ECU ‘24 game environment rather than increasing the tarhole fan numbers. Increase beer sale locations. Any thoughts of tailgate locations for us niner fans for Appy St?

We haven’t started planning our big tailgate for app yet. I think the uptown lot we have used for other events is currently unavailable due to construction

Saw this in Hoffman’s signed tweet:

I really hope we end up building out both sides of the stadium. Would look great.

That does look great!

We’ll one day look back and laugh at how stupid the 14k rich was
