OT: Coach firing time

Could the search finally be over in Olean? Film at 11...

BuffaloNews.com: Schmidt pays visit to St. Bonaventure

PostGazette.com: Schmidt emerges as top candidate

In other news, Butler promoted assistant Brad Stevens to head coach and ol’ Huggy is mulling over the WVU opening.

I think it would be great publicity for the a10 and St. Bonnie if they did a reality tv show about St. Bonnies new coach, where america voted on amateurs, couldn’t get much worse.

Donovan remains a Gator…

ESPN.com: Donovan will stay put as Florida coach

Billy decides to take UK job – Billy G that is!

Kentucky.com: Kentucky to name Gillispie basketball coach

Dallas.com: A&M’s Gillispie hired at Kentucky

Sportsline.com: Kentucky finds its new coach in A&M’s Gillispie

And UCLA assistant Kerry Keating will be the next head coach at Santa Clara.

Well, now that Kentucky, Michigan, West Virginia, and even South Florida have hired new coaches, perhaps Bona will have one by next week…

Post-Gazette.com: Schmidt ponders Bonnies’ offer

can we give BJ Holmes a call?

can we give BJ Holmes a call?

YES!! PLEASE!!!

by “we” i mean the coaching staff.

Unless bobby wants Chisox, and a few others and myself to get in on a conference call.

A guy with a losing record in the Northeast Conference? That’s the kind of bold move that has gotten St. Bonaventure where they are now in major college athletics.
A guy with a losing record in the Northeast Conference?
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Schmidt’s record in the NEC is 58-52. Nothing to write home about but then I don’t know much about that low-major conference, to be honest. RMU’s hoops budget ranks pretty low at #297 ($594,490), compared to #156 at Bona ($1,336,472).

Look at UMass coach Travis Ford. His record at Eastern Kentucky in the OVC was 28-52 (61-80 overall). Anyway, at this point, Bona just needs to get someone hired. Then they need to do a study on athletics and determine what conference affiliation would best serve the school. At this point in time, it’s not the A-10.

K-State to name successor according to FOXSports’ Jeff Goodman…

FOXSports.com: Martin frontrunner for K-State job

Goodman states that if Frank Martin is indeed promoted to head coach, Hill will be offered the associate head coach position. Hmmm…

Looks like D. Hill is making out pretty good on the Huggy deal. If he got the assistant job at G’town or the assoc. head job at KSU he should be excited as h#ll. I know the boards feelings towards D. Hill, but do you guys still consider him a niner even w/ the crap he pulled?

I don’t consider him a Niner at all. He finished his playing career at Bowie State. Bobby helped get him back in school at UNC Charlotte in order for him to get the courses needed to graduate, his only tie to the University IMO is that his degree reads the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Florida assistant Donnie Jones also headed to West Virginia – to take over the program at Marshall.

Side note to UK’s hiring of Gillispie…

Willard is the 18th Pitino assistant to get a head coaching gig!

and the A-10 loses Pitino to the Big East (Louisville)…

Supposedly A&M is considering Marshall, among others, according to an ESPN article I just read. A&M and Arkansas probably aren’t going to get an assistant from another program, so even if they overlook Marshall, the dominoes continue to fall and whoever they get, there will be an opening at those schools.

So I wouldn’t say his window has passed quite yet.
