I find it interesting that we have a nice, intriguing schedule next year, BUT we have a team that does not appear to have anywhere near the talent to compete well in it. Ahhh, timing. This time next year weāll be sitting here awash in the mediocrity that has haunted NINER ball forever. Why donāt we get these kinds of games in those rare years when we have pretty good teams? Going 0-3 or 0-4 next year against the ACC will only more solidify this rap on us (especially locally). DANG!
Weāve had some big names on our OOC schedule pretty much every year. Itās just that this one includes 4 ACC teams and is stronger top to bottom. Maybe this will be the team that steps up and beats the name schools.
I want to know WTF our piss poor athletic program wonāt nut up and make these home gamesā¦HOME games! I absolutely hate the idea of playing these games downtown!
Itās the only way to get them to play two games. Whenās the last time an ACC team has played in Halton? Clemson 10 years ago or something like that.

Was Miami-FL in the ACC or still a Big East team when they played at Halton? Thatās the only one I can think of. Last time we played Clemson in Charlotte was at the soon-to-be-demolished Coliseum on Tyvola Road.

I meant to say the last time an ACC team has played on our home court. As others have said, no ACC teams have ever played in Halton.
Iām down wid it. My travel agent found an ocean front 2 b-r villa (3 star resort) on Sapphire Beach, including air fare for 3 people for only $3300. Weāre bringing Grandma to baby sit, so all is good. Party with the Iguanas baby!
According to that, we are 0-4 against the Jackets. I attended one of those games (and the only one played in Charlotte) at the original Charlotte Coliseum (now Cricket Arena) back during the 1984-85 season ā during the midst of the Hal Wissel era!

The Ramblinā Wreck from Georgia Tech is the name of the official mascot of the student body at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The Ramblinā Wreck is a 1930 Ford Model A Sports Coupe and it embodies the spirit, tradition, and passion of the Tech student body. The Wreck is present at all major sporting events and student body functions. Its most noticeable role is leading the football team onto Historic Grant Field at Bobby Dodd Stadium, a duty which the Wreck has performed since 1961. The Ramblinā Wreck has been mechanically and financially maintained on campus by students in the Ramblinā Reck Club since 1967.
Iām a Ramblinā Wreck from Georgia Tech, and a hell of an Engineer
A Helluva, Helluva, Helluva, Helluva, Helluva Engineer
Like all the jolly good fellows, I drink my whiskey clear.
Iām a Ramblinā Wreck from Georgia Tech and a hell of an Engineer
Oh, if I had a daughter, sir,
Iād dress her in white and gold,
And put her on the campus
To cheer the brave and bold.
But if I had a son, sir,
Iāll tell you what heād doā
Heād yell: āTO HELL WITH GEORGIA!ā
Like his daddy used to do.
Oh, I wish I had a barrel of rum,
and Sugar three thousand pounds
A college bell to put it in,
And a clapper to stir it round.
Iād drink to all the good fellows,
who come from far and near.
Iām a Ramblinā, Gamblinā, HELL OF AN ENGINEER!
Yeah, I didnāt even see the car until someone made comment of a Model A.
I just checked and rooms are still available through Changes.com - 6 nights for $1524 at the Mariott Frenchmanās Reef Resort. Airfare is $500 - $800 depending on flight.
I talked to Kelly Weatherman in the Athletic Foundation. The hotel package/rates quoted in the email from the 49er club is from the tournamentās Official Travel Agency (Basketball Travelers, Inc.). There are better rates available but rooms are going fast because Agencies like Basketball Travelers buy rooms in advance.
Anyways, the rates offered by Changes.com for Marriott Frenchmanās Reef Resort are the best I found.
The package offered by Basketball Travelers isnāt that bad considering you can get Waterview room, tickets, plus transportation to and from tournament and airport.
